Local Defensive End Makes ACC Pick

Colleague Paul Tenorio passes along this bit of news:

Stone Bridge junior Brian Slay, a 6-foot-3, 255 pound defensive end that
helped lead the Bulldogs to the Virginia AAA Division 5 title has
given a verbal commitment to North Carolina State, according to Stone
Bridge Coach Mickey Thompson.

Thompson said Slay committed this weekend after a visit to the school.

Stone Bridge junior running back Daniel Allen also visited the Wolfpack and will attend
their camp this summer, after which an offer may be extended. Allen missed
much of his junior season due to injury but is still considered a strong
D-I prospect.

Thompson also said that linebacker Mike Olson had a positive visit to
Syracuse and will visit NC State later this month.

Thompson's son, defensive tackle Zach Thompson, has garnered offers from NC
State, the University of Virginia and Maryland and will visit NC State --
along with brother Patrick Thompson, a quarterback prospect -- later this
month.

Mickey Thompson said Zach will likely make a decision this summer.
