Plenty of Coaches Turn Out at Comcast
For the Maryland high school basketball championships. Less than 24 hours after guiding American U. to its first NCAA tournament berth, Coach Jeff Jones was in attendance to watch Snow Hill guard Trevon Johnson in the 1A title game.
Next up was the 3A game, with Seton Hall Coach Bobby Gonzalez in the stands to see Largo's 6-11 senior, Maurice Sutton. Sutton is considering many schools including Seton Hall, Boston College, South Florida and Marquette (all of which ave offered scholarships) as well as Villanova and Connecticut (which have yet to offer). Sutton plans to start taking campus visits next weekend; he recently earned a qualifying score on the SAT. Redshirting is a possibility as Sutton acknowledges he needs to add weight to his 210-pound frame.
