WVU Hits Tidewater Hard
Want an instant recipe for recruiting in one of the East Coast's biggest football hotbeds? Follow the one West Virginia has taken, hiring a former Tidewater high school football coach as an assistant. Chris Beatty, whose resume includes a brief stint at North Stafford High, went from being a high school head coach to BCS assistant in three easy steps. In 2006, he was the offensive coordinator at Division I-AA Hampton. He spent 2007 as the running backs coach at BCS outsider Northern Illinois. Now, he's on the staff in Morgantown and, according to Commonwealth Recruiting Guru Doug Doughty, is making quite the splash, already landing commitments from two top juniors.
"Chris Beatty will get us involved in Tidewater like I couldn't do and nobody could do," Mountaineers new coach Bill Stewart told Doughty.
