Record-Setting QB Chooses Unusual Route

Colleague Dave Yanovitz passes along this tidbit. Oakland Mills quarterback Justin Sottilaire, who set a Maryland public school single-game record with 448 yards passing last September, has signed to play for St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound signal caller helped the Scorpions win three games this season, in turn snapping a 24-game losing streak that stretched back to 2005. Sottilaire threw for 2,777 yards, fourth-best in the Washington area. He also tossed 15 touchdowns and completed 59 percent of his throws, while being intercepted only eight times.

Sottilaire completed 23 of 37 passes for 448 yards against Marriotts Ridge on Sept. 29, breaking by 18 yards the single-game record set by Billy Largent in 2001.
