Gilchrist "Very Confident" He Will Play This Fall
Gus Gilchrist says he is "very confident" he will receive an NCAA waiver to be allowed to play in the fall for South Florida. Here's a guess: Gilchrist continues to say he was never informed by Maryland of the ACC in-conference transfer rules and therefore should not have to sit out a season after transferring from Maryland. Another guess: The NCAA won't care too much. The NCAA isn't the most forigiving group anyway and I'm sure some folks at HQ in Indianapolis will not Gilchrist's past three years: Committed to Virginia Tech; transferred to Progressive Christian; dropped out of classes to become home schooled because Progressive wasn't certified by the Clearinghouse but did not graduate on time; wanted out of his LOI to Virginia Tech because of the campus shootings; sat out the first semester of 2007-08 school year; committed to Maryland and enrolled for the spring semester; transferred from Maryland after being denied multiple waivers to the ACC in-conference transfer rule.
