UMBC Gets Early Commitment
The one and only Dave Yanovitz files this report:
St. Mary's-Annapolis guard Nick Groce, a 6-2 junior who helped lead the Saints to the MIAA-B boys' basketball title game following a season-ending injury to star guard Josh Morgan-Green, has made an early verbal commitment to UMBC.
Groce, who moved from point guard to shooting guard when Morgan-Green broke his wrist in December, chose the Retrivers over Loyola (Md.), Vermont and American. UMBC made their first trip to the NCAA tournament this past fall.
Groce averaged 15 points, 3 steals, and 3 assists as the Saints went 18-10.
