Rankings, Schmrankings
Wanted to post this earlier in the week. ESPNU came out with its list of the nation's 150 top prospects. All-Met linebacker Jelani Jenkins of Good Counsel checks in at No. 9. Lackey cornerback Darrell Givens, who has committed to Penn State, is the next local, at No. 59. The only other Washington-area player is West Springfield quarterback Bryn Renner, who is bound for North Carolina, at No. 124.
Today, ESPN released its national rankings for the first time this season. Trinity High in Euless, Texas, is No. 1. Interestingly, the top Washington-area team is Maryland 4A defending champion Quince Orchard at No. 36, with DeMatha at No. 42. I haven't given much thought to it yet, but have to think those two, Good Counsel, Dunbar and Stone Bridge are the top five local teams entering the season.

guess what? Virginia Tech had 8 draft picks last year. Florida had 2, the same amount as MD.

Hopefully, Jelani Jenkins will be going to USC or Florida - I hope he does not go to Maryland
