Rough Times for Local College Coaches
While recruiting is slow, it was a tough weekend for local college coaches, with their rivals picking up plenty of fodder to use against them.
First came this Forbes listing of the nation's most overpaid coaches that includes Maryland's Ralph Friedgen and Virginia's Al Groh. (Virginia Tech's Frank Beamer was No. 5 on the most underpaid list.)
Most underpaid: Jim Tressel, Ohio State; Mike Riley, Oregon State; Jim Grobe, Wake Forest; Pete Carroll, USC; Beamer.
Most overpaid: Kirk Ferentz, Iowa; Greg Robinson, Syracuse; Charlie Weis, Notre Dame; Friedgen; Groh
Then came a report today that current Virginia defensive coordinator Bob Pruett, while the head coach at Marshall, was directly involved in academic fraud and other issues of dishonesty.

Beat me to it-I was going to say I wonder how much the Steffy decision made this ranking possible.
I figure Fridge thinks Steffy can sink or swim against Delaware and if he can't hold up against them then its Turner to finish out.

Maryland will finish with a 4-8 record(good for last place in the ACC - even behind Duke)
I am happy to see that Maryland is no longer recruiting Tavon Austin.

Fridgen just assured his overpaid ranking as evidenced by his decision on Steffy !
