Coach Makes Promise, Recruit Fumbles

Interesting story here. Clemson Coach Tommy Bowden promised running Jamie Harper the season's first carry as part of his recruiting pitch. Harper fumbled, Clemson fumbled away the game to Alabama, 34-10.

Maybe more interesting: Sift through this to read Steve Spurrier's response. Never shy, the ol' ball coach wonders whether it really is necessary to make such a promise in recruiting players.

Final Score this coming Saturday:

Middle Tennessee State -- 31
Maryland -- 17

Maryland will finish with a 4-8 record (good for last place in the ACC - even behind Duke)

I am glad that Maryland is no longer recruiting Tavon Austin.

Jelani Jenkins will not be attending Maryland
