Another Stone Bridge Player Makes ACC Pick
Colleague Paul Tenorio, man of all things Loudoun, files this report:
Stone Bridge senior quarterback Patrick Thompson will be joining his twin brother Zach Thompson at Wake Forest next season after accepting an offer from the Deamon Deacons on Sunday evening, according to their father, Bulldogs coach Mickey Thompson.
Patrick Thompson will join the ACC program on the defensive side of the ball, though he may see playing time as a quarterback, linebacker or tight end.
The signing comes as a relief for Patrick, a star on a team with four other Division I signees, who had not received the major offer he hoped for before this weekend.
"He's been carrying that weight for a while," Mickey Thompson said. "Especially recently I think it started to affect his play so I'm glad to see his future get solidified and now he can just have fun and play football."
At Wake, Patrick Thompson will be joining his brother Zach and teammate Mike Olson, who committed as a linebacker.
"We really liked Wake Forest, we really liked the coaches and so it's a great fit for them," Mickey Thompson said. "When you get both of them, both are on scholarship both going to great schools, it's great for the family."
Brian Slay, a defensive end for the Bulldogs and David Wang, a defensive tackle, also committed to ACC programs. Slay will play for N.C. State and Wang for Virginia Tech.
