Bealeton: Worth the Trip for Recruiters
From correspondent Matthew Stanmyre:
This year, Liberty High, located in tiny Bealeton, Va., has been on the maps of many college recruiters. In addition to Kory Gough, who has orally committed to Virginia Tech, Liberty senior running back-linebacker Corey Lillard (5-foot-11, 197 pounds) has pledged to Virginia, and three other players are getting serious looks from division I-AA schools.
Senior fullback-linebacker Damien Dodson (5-11, 235) and senior offensive lineman Ryan Grimes (6-7, 245) have both been offered scholarships by division I-AA Central Connecticut State. Dodson and Grimes will hold off on orally committing to see if more offers come.
Senior wide receiver Derrick Lee (6-0, 170) is also beginning to attract recruiters. He does not currently have any offers, but this week Liberty Coach Tommy Buzzo sent out game film on Lee to various I-AA programs across the East Coast.
Since 1999, Buzzo said Liberty has sent 19 players to the Division programs.
