Top Junior Chooses West Coast

Good Counsel junior cornerback Louis Young on Friday accepted a scholarship offer to play for Stanford.

Young, also a top basketball player, had several scholarship offers but opted to make what is becoming a more popular pick for local players. Quince Orchard All-Met lineman Terrence Stephens also has pledged for the Cardinal, who also are involved with several other Washington-area players.

In other Good Counsel news, I caught up with running back Caleb Porzel after the Falcons' 42-3 victory over St. John's and he tells me that while he heard speculation that new schools might show interest after his sensational game against DeMatha earlier this month, nothing could be further from the truth. Porzel said he always has been and remains solid for Maryland.

Porzel will be signing with Penn State.

I am glad that Louis Young and Terrence Stephens chose Stanford - neither player had any interest in Maryland.

Go Tar Heels !
