Terps Get Boost; Shooter is Eligible
Maryland got a boost yesterday with the announcement that Jin Soo Kim has been cleared to play this season. The 6-8 swingman from South Korea via South Kent Prep in Connecticut graduated a year early from high school to enroll in college. He's considered a terrific shooter, though obviously there is a huge adjustment going from high school to college. One thing to remember, as I think about Maryland's basketball recruiting. Much is made about recruiting rankings and other such hype, but think back to the Terps' glory days earlier this decade. Were Juan Dixon or Lonny Baxter considered anything more than role players coming out of high school? Steve Blake was better known, but certainly not some hot-shot recruit. Ditto Chris Wilcox and Byron Mouton, Drew Nicholas and Tahj Holden.
