Virginia Pursuing DeMatha End, Terps Next?

DeMatha Coach Bill McGregor reports that second-team All-Met defensive end Jeremiah Mathis will take an official visit to Virginia this weekend and that an offer could be in the works from Maryland, with Kansas State possibly also entering the mix. Mathis previously had offers from Syracuse and North Carolina State.

Among other DeMatha players:

Defensive end Patrick Goulden committed to VMI.

Running back Aaron Conaway appears to be bound for the Ivy League, likely either Brown, Cornell, Penn or Princeton.

Offensive lineman whose massive weight loss I chronicled before this season picked up his first scholarship offer, from Hampton.

Wide receiver-defensive back Emmanuel McPhearson picked up an offer from new New Mexico Coach Mike Locksley. "I've got to talk to Locks more, Tom [Chroniger] and Jeremiah are a possibility for him."
