Seven DeMatha Juniors Hold Offers
Things have been busy over at DeMatha, where six juniors already hold scholarship offers from major-college programs and a seventh has a division I-AA offer.
Offensive guard Shane Johnson, who is 6-4 and 290 pounds, was the latest addition to the list, receiving an offer from Boston College this past weekend. Eagles assistant Ryan Day was speaking at a clinic put on by DeMatha Coach Bill McGregor and used the opportunity to give McGregor the paperwork for Johnson.
Johnson is the Stags' second offensive lineman to get an offer, joining 6-5, 310-pound Ari Kouandjio, who holds offers from Maryland, Virginia Tech, North Carolina and Pittsburgh.
Other DeMatha players with offers are:
Safety Lorenzo Waters (6-1, 197): Maryland, Virginia Tech
Wide receiver-defensive back Mike Cooley (6-0, 200): Maryland, Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh
Wide receiver-defensive back Jeff Knox (6-2, 203): Pittsburgh
Running back Marcus Coker (6-1, 220): Maryland, Kansas State
Fullback Austin Bailey (5-11, 220): Towson
And McGregor expects more offers soon. "I think it will pick up," he said. "I just sent more film out."
