Former Va. Tech Recruit Looking for a Home

Just talked to Oak Hill guard Lamont "MoMo" Jones, who had 20 points in the Warriors' 83-64 victory over Pinewood Prep in the first round of the National High School Invitational. He had been committed to play for Virginia Tech but decided recently to open things up and consider other schools.

Jones has scheduled a visit to Southern California and also is interested in Florida. He said he also has heard from coaches at Kentucky, Arkansas and Duke, while Coach Steve Smith said that Seton Hall and St. John's also had made inquiries. But it seems unlikely he will consider those schools because, he said, "There's not a lot of time left in the process. You can't get to know a person in a two- or four-week time frame,"

In the short amount of time that Jones has decided to consider other schools, he's already endured some anxious moments. USC Coach Tim Floyd was at Oak Hill earlier this week, before reports surfaced that he was considering going to Arizona. Before committing to Virginia Tech, Jones had committed to Louisville.
