NHSI Underway...
Walk into Georgetown Prep's Hanley Center and you can't miss the Nike logos -- on the glass doors, the large sneaker displays, etc. Funny, since Georgetown Prep has a deal with UnderArmour. Anyway, the National High School Invitational is underway, but the Oak Hill-Pinewood Prep opener has the feel of a pickup game or scrimmage. The gym is about half full, with most fans seated on one side of the court -- perhaps to make the attendance look a bit better on ESPNU?
On the court, Pinewood Prep of Summerville, S.C., has an early 10-7 lead over Oak Hil midway through the first quarter and Oak Hill star center Keith "Tiny" Gallon, an Oklahoma recruit, just picked up his second foul.
Among those seated courtside: Georgetown Prep Coach Dwayne Bryant, Gonzaga Coach Steve Turner and Montrose Christian assistant and strength/conditioning guru Alan Stein.
I expect the intensity and crowd will pick up during the day. More in a few...
