Terps Offer Friendship's Johnson

In Barr's absence, Alan Goldenbach checks in...

Friendship Collegiate Coach Aazaar Abdul-Rahim emails to report that senior offensive tackle Earl Johnson attended a one-day camp at Maryland last week, after which assistant head coach James Franklin offered the 6-foot-5, 245-pound Johnson a scholarship.
While he'll likely need to add plenty of weight to transition to a college tackle, Johnson also plays defensive end for Friendship, which has sent several players to low-level Division I programs the past couple of years, but hasn't been able to attract the attention of larger schools like Maryland.
Abdul-Rahim, who graduated from Dunbar and went on to play at San Diego State, said Johnson also has an offer from Hampton with Virginia and Pittsburgh among others keeping close tabs on him. Hampton has also offered 6-foot, 200-pound strong safety Kennedy Ogbana.
There's more talent in the Friendship pipeline. Abdul-Rahim said junior linebacker Charles Bailey and sophomore lineman Eddie Goldman (already 6-3, 295) have performed very well at camps this summer, and have piqued the interest of some ACC school
