Pitt Recruit Among Two DeMatha Players With Concussion
Pittsburgh recruit Jeff Knox sat out DeMatha's 48-12 victory over Friendship Collegiate this past Friday because of a concussion, Stags Coach Bill McGregor said.
Linebacker Austin Phillips, who is still waiting for a scholarship offer, also missed the game because of a concussion. Both players were injured in DeMatha's 56-35 victory over Gilman on Sept. 12, but neither realized it initially.
"It wasn't until they came to school Monday and [trainer] Wendy [Norris] was checking them out," McGregor said. "I don't know if either will play this week."
No. 1 DeMatha (3-0) plays at Paul VI Catholic (1-2) on Friday.
McGregor said that he thinks Knox could be available although the player has yet to resume practicing.
"I don't know when he got hurt," McGregor said. "It was weird. He went to [our] game, then afterwards he went to the Maryland game. He said the lights were real bright. He said he had a headache. It wasn't until Monday we figured out he might have a concussion."
