Wise Lineman Commits to Old Dominion
Wise defensive tackle Charles Owens on Friday night committed to play for Old Dominion. A 6-foot-1, 300-pound senior, Owens had drawn interest from North Carolina, Virginia, North Carolina State and Richmond, but Old Dominion was the only school to offer him a scholarship.
"Everyone was monitoring him but no one else had offered him a scholarship," Wise Coach DaLawn Parrish said. "He got tired of the whole situation. He liked his visit down there. He liked the coaching staff."
In its first season of football in more than half a century, Old Dominion is 3-2 while relying on several local high school players.
Wise wide receiver Trevon Butler committed to Old Dominion this past summer and defensive linemen Rahsaan Moore and Anthony McDaniel hold offers from the Monarchs.
