Kouandjio, others ready for U.S. Army All-American Bowl
Folks wanting an early glimpse at many of next year's college football freshman class can tune into Saturday's U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio (Channel 4, 1 p.m.). Four local players will suit up for the East team: DeMatha All-Met offensive lineman Arie Kouandjio, Thomas Johnson linebacker Nick Forbes (California), Linganore linebacker Zach Zwinak (Penn State) and former St. John's Catholic Prep defensive end J.R. Ferguson.
As for Kouandjio, he plans official campus visits to national champion Alabama and then Tennessee the next two weekends, according to DeMatha Coach Bill McGregor, who added that Miami is no longer an option for the 6-foot-5, 315-pound Kounadjio.
"They filled on Monday, I guess," McGregor said.
California is believed to be the other school that Kouandjio is seriously considering.
Also, McGregor said, defensive back Lorenzo Waters has narrowed his choices to Rutgers, Wake Forest and California.
"He's got to make up his mind shortly here," McGregor said. "Maryland was in [earlier this week], they were still trying to get Lorenzo. But I called James [Franklin], he wants to go away from home."

Did Coach McGregor mention if Arie Kouandjio is still considering the TERPS? We sure need quality offensive linemen and he could have started last year.
