Marshall recruit Levern Jacobs out 2-4 weeks

Suitland wide receiver Levern Jacobs had surgery Wednesday to repair partially torn meniscus in his knee and will be sidelined from two to four weeks, according to Rams Coach Ed Shields.

Jacobs, who committed to Marshall earlier this month, was injured when he made a catch and was tackled during the first quarter of a 32-0 victory over Bladensburg on Sept. 11. He had eight catches for 156 yards in Suitland's 21-14 victory over Wise in the season opener.

It was originally believed that Jacobs might miss most of the regular season, Shields said, but the surgery revealed the damage was not as significant as first thought. Shields that that sophomorre Taivon Jacobs has stepped up in his brother's absence, with five catches for 81 yards the past two weeks.
