DeMatha F Mikael Hopkins picks Georgetown

DeMatha forward Mikael Hopkins on Tuesday night committed to play for Georgetown.

Hopkins, who is 6 feet 9 and 215 pounds, picked the Hoyas after considering Maryland, Virginia Tech, Miami, West Virginia, Texas and Ohio State.

"I feel as though i fit [Georgetown's] system well," Hopkins said. "And it's close to home and I have a little sister who I want to have come to my games."

Hopkins said he also liked Georgetown's "tradition of getting big men to the [NBA] and their program. THey have a great program."

Great pickup for the Hoyas.

Glad to see the DeMatha pipeline won't fade away with the graduation of Austin Freeman.

Maryland's PG County drought continues. When Adrian Bowie leaves next year, the Terps might not have a single player from their home county - one of the best in the country.

lol. Have a nice career in that boring, crappy system.

You mean the system that's won two outright Big East regular season titles, one BET (and finals of two more), and been to a Final Four since JTIII arrived?

Or the one that whipped both NCAA Finals participants last season, sent 5 big men to the League, and had Maryland down 38 a couple of seasons ago before letting up and ekeing out a 27-point win?

Yea, that system. If JT3 ran a real basketball system, they probably would have had a natty under him. Gary Williams is twice the coach JT is, but unfortunately, not quite the recruiter. I know Hopkins wasn't coming to Md, and that's fine, but he will be invisible at GTown.
