All-Met Dominique Terrell mulls visits, offers

By Preston Williams

Osbourn All-Met Dominique Terrell has scheduled official visits to Virginia and Miami (Fla.) for later this month and, having already taken an official trip to West Virginia in November, is weighing what other schools he should visit, his mother, Catina, said Tuesday afternoon.

Catina Terrell said the various coaching changes are affecting the family's decision making. For example, her son liked West Virginia, but almost all of that school's offensive coaches have recently been let go, including Chris Beatty, who was the Mountaineers' recruiting coordinator.

WVU is bringing in Oklahoma State offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen, who in 2012 will take over as head coach for Bill Stewart.

"With coaching changes, the style of play changes," Catina Terrell said. "We don't want to send him somewhere where it's not going to work. Some people think five [official visits] is a lot, but it really isn't. When you have so many choices, it's hard to narrow them down."

Miami representatives are scheduled to visit the Terrell home Wednesday. The Terrells will head to Miami the weekend of Jan. 28. The Virginia visit is scheduled for Jan. 22. Virginia coaches have already visited the home. During the fall, Virginia Tech Coach Frank Beamer visited Terrell at Osbourn, Catina Terrell said.

The 5-foot-10, 165-pound Terrell carried 275 times for 2,070 yards and 30 touchdowns and threw for 1,419 yards and 15 TDs for Osbourn last fall. The team went 12-1, losing in the Virginia AAA Division 5 semifinals to Stone Bridge. Terrell could play any number of offensive or defensive positions in college.

The Terrells plan to have a family meeting Wednesday to compare thoughts and discuss possibilities for the last two official visits.

"I'm more stressed than [Dominique] is," Catina Terrell joked.
