I don't know, how clairvoyant am I?

Posted by: daggar | December 4, 2008 11:59 AM | Report abuse

I think the McNabb thing has been done before...now old enough to move on, I think.

Posted by: brownwood26 | December 4, 2008 12:01 PM | Report abuse

We will lose 20-10 this weekend.

But still playoff bound!

Posted by: Rypien11 | December 4, 2008 12:04 PM | Report abuse

Holy moley... was that a bigfish sighting?

Hate to say it, but I don't have much confidence heading into this game. If our O can't get up for a division game in our building after inducting Sean Taylor into the Ring of Fame, I don't see how they're going to get up for this game... ugh...

Posted by: NateinthePDX | December 4, 2008 12:18 PM | Report abuse

Camp Lemonier, Djibouti: What direction do you see the Skins going in the up coming draft? Especially with them trading their 2nd rounder for Jason Taylor.

Jason La Canfora: Nice trade, huh? They can't help themselves I suppose.

Its just funny at this point. He lauds the trade when it happens, then throws darts at the team after the fact........

The Jason Taylor trade was a "necessity" at the time. And all the media types applauded it. Who knew he would get hurt almost immediately?

Posted by: Lisa_R | December 4, 2008 12:40 PM | Report abuse

Lisa, he comes across to me as being disingenious, ripping the trade, when he first applauded it.
it just rings hollow to me.

I hope someone called him out on that one

jm, here was my post to the discussion:

Weren't you in favor of the Taylor trade at the point that it was made?? Now for you to say what you said about, "how they can't help themselves" doesn't that ring somewhat hollow, and disingenious??

Posted by: BeantownGreg | December 4, 2008 12:47 PM | Report abuse

Greg,

Everyone is a GM after the choice has been made.

It's alot tougher when you have to make the choice, anyone can look back now and say we should have done this, or should'nt of done that.

Question: How did JlaC manage to write a post about Durant Brooks being beat out in a punting competition in Green Bay--yet leave out the fact that the reason he was brought in is because our old Derrick "Chokey McShank" Frost was released???

I appreciate your work, Jasno, but why do you continue to treat Brooks and Frost so differntly when they've both been punting like crap? Brooks wasn't the answer this yer, but the Skins did the right thing to give him a shot over Frost. Brooks still has more of an upside than Frost.

Posted by: Alan4 | December 4, 2008 12:48 PM | Report abuse

Wonder who the 2% are that said we'd win by +21 HA.. what a freakin' joke! This team couldn't beat Georgetown's football team by three touchdowns. Whating the Giant's game last week w/ a lot of casual fans (family, many female) in the room asking me why Skin's looked so bad w/ 7 wins.. I thought they were better they said. EMBARRASING !!!

What really sucks is "IF" in a few years the O starts clicking w/ anytype of regualrity the D will probably be average by then. All the fans will look back at the 4-5 years w/ top 10 Defenses... opportunity wasted!
Hope I'm wrong but I rarley am.

Posted by: cwprice2 | December 4, 2008 12:50 PM | Report abuse

I told CL I would just leave it alone. Would it have hurt him to say we all thought it was a good move at the time. However, sometimes these things just don't work out.

So you are saying that if Brooks eventually catches on in this league, Jasno will blast the FO about how it was obviously wrong to give up on Brooks?

Alan4 maybe because yesterday and the day before he put the fact that Frost was released up in three or four posts and JLC assumes that everyone can put 2 & 2 together.

Apologies to Jasno.

Most people thought signing Adam Archuleta was a good idea too when it happened. Funny how people don't "own up" to their own opinions when referring to Archbingus from now on. I guess some people will never be satisfied.

A lot of us thought signing London Fletcher was a bad idea at the time.

Posted by: Original_etrod | December 4, 2008 1:06 PM | Report abuse

And some of us cast our lot in Beta players. Who knew?

Posted by: Original_etrod | December 4, 2008 1:07 PM | Report abuse

psps23 I don't remember anyone saying that was a good signing. I remember everyone being upset that we didn't keep Clark.

Brooks is done in the NFL. He may have a leg, but like Heath Shuler, he doesn't have the head or the heart.
If the Skins win 1 more game and have no major injuries I'll consider this year a sucess, better than my preseason misgivings. The word "playoff" shall no longer be used in the same sentence as Redskins in my house. As long as the wee little Snidester fella and his bud Vin are in the picture, I shall follow the words of the great Chief Joseph when thinking of the Redskin Nation: "I will hope no more, forever".

I too was excited when we signed Adam Arch-Deluxe. Then a Rams fan friend told me why St. Louis didn't want him anymore.

That basically he was a glorified linebacker minus the size and speed.

Damn if he wasn't right on!

Posted by: Predator48 | December 4, 2008 1:15 PM | Report abuse

JM220,

That's a short memory you've got. There were plenty of people saying that Archuleta was better anyway, he was a borderline pro bowl player, we would have the best safety tandem in the game, etc.

Similar with the Brandon Lloyd trade. He was so talented, he would finally be the compliment to Santana, our offense would be so explosive with him, etc.

Posted by: psps23 | December 4, 2008 1:17 PM | Report abuse

There are also those who said to sign DJ Hackett.....how did that work out for the Panthers....

Posted by: BeantownGreg | December 4, 2008 1:20 PM | Report abuse

I remember people saying that about B Lloyd because I was one of them. Arch I really don't remember people being excited. I remember people asking why due to the money. And also due to Clark working well with the Reaper.

Posted by: ILikeSonny | December 4, 2008 1:11 PM

Wrong. He will get two or three more chances. Green Bay offered him a spot on their practice squad yesterday. That's not "done in the NFL."

Remember always wait to see which way the porn industry goes. Which is why the HD DVD vs Blue Ray was a joke because hard copy mediums will be obsolete in a few years regardless.

Who ever thought that signing Lloyd and Archuleta was a good move didn't post on RI.

You're not a real fan if you don't post on RI.

Posted by: BeantownGreg

Well, they didn't spend a 2nd round pick to get him, spent virtually minimum salary on him, and only have him under contract for 2 years. I'd say it didn't hurt the Panthers one bit to sign the guy.

And by the way, despite the massive "disappointment" he is (if you can call a cheap, short-contract veteran that), he still has more receiving yards this year than our wunderknid Devin Thomas.

It was hilarious watching the Skins\Giants game, the Green Bay game was on the other screen and they booed the **** out of Derrick Frost after his first three punts. The first two were pretty bad but the third one was okay, but they booed anyway.

Dude is awful.

I agree, TE. Frost is closer to done in the NFL than Brooks is.

Even Schuler got 3 years and 3 different teams to sign him.

Posted by: Alan4 | December 4, 2008 1:29 PM | Report abuse

"I remember people saying that about B Lloyd because I was one of them."

JM220

Precisely. Are you going to make excuses for the FO for signing him, though? You shouldn't...

Fact is that it was a bad move, regardless of what people thought when it happened.

Posted by: psps23 | December 4, 2008 1:29 PM | Report abuse

psp, you're defending it!!!! That is laughable, dude seriously laughable.
Zorn worked with the guy on a daily basis in Seattle, and didn't want him, but you're carrying that torch, come clean, is he related to you??

Great, he has more receiving yards than D. Thomas, he's also....wait for it......wait for it.....INJURY PRONE, as he has been his WHOLE CAREER....your 'he has more receiving yards' is completely grasping at staws....UFB.....

No I said it was a bad move but who knew at the time. Not the FO can't help themselves. Espically after I praised the move. That's where the problem is. It is one thing to say it is a bad move at the start and then bash the FO when you turn out to be right. It is something totally different when you say it is a good move at the start then bash the office at the end. As if you said it was a bad move all along. It doesn't make you look smart. To me it makes you look even more dumb. As I stated before I can respect a man that takes a stand and proven he is wrong and admit it than one that doesn't or take a stand than don't admit he is wrong.

Hey Jasno,
Where's your report on what Derrick Frost had to say about the Packers organization after he was cut. Surely he wasn't released for "football" reasons.
