What I wrote in the other thread:
Here was the key excerpt from Sally Jenkins's recent article:
"After losing to the Lions last week, cornerback DeAngelo Hall said, "You either want it or you don't. A lot of these guys don't want it. They want the other stuff." The paycheck-player, where's-mine environment is set by an owner who never seems to value the right qualities, and who so often seems to equate the size of a contract with character."
There are too many people here who just want to be paid and then stink up the joint. Frankly, at this point, if I were Snyder, I would start to figure out who wants to play--and who just wants to get paid. I have a feeling that too many just want to be paid for crappy performance.
And here is another key gem:
"How long can some players continue to give more while making a lot less? And how long can all of them keep fighting for Zorn when no one in the front office will step forward and preach real loyalty, by publicly declaring, "This is our coach and the path we're on."
And then there is the problem of allowing Portis to undermine the team. For years Snyder allowed Portis to openly undermine the coach on TV and the radio. What message does that send to the players about the coach and his authority?

Any hope at this point in salvaging the season is in changing QBs.
It's not like Campbell will be back next year anyway.
He's gone at this point unless a miraculous turnaround occurs.

Posted by: james808d | October 4, 2009 2:35 PM | Report abuse
way to act like youve done it before, me-angelo. next time take it to the house so the offense doesnt piss away the good field position

Good news: At least DHALL can catch.
Posted by: rachel216 | October 4, 2009 2:36 PM | Report abuse
what message does it send that Vinny made the decisions on who got cut in the last two preseasons.. ?? Not the Head Coach.. Result would be total loss of respect for Zorn (and no fear of him, either).

lh, that's nothing new with Cooley though.
People were saying that when they drafted Davis, he was to be more of the blocking TE.
I never seen Cooley shed the way Davis was today when trying to block.
Never until the day I die will understand drafting Fred Davis.

Shanny and Holmgren or all the other decent HC's will want to bring in their own organizations (assistants). Most likely improbable in the middle of the season..
Snyder should bring in, quickly, a GM type consultant..to advise the team on moves before the NFL trade deadline..and other fixes. Then pull the trigger on Zorn at the end of year.

It would take more than a new QB or new coach to make a difference on this team. New QB and new coach would make a 4-12 season into, say, 7-9. Snyder knows that.
I say they play it out with what they've got, get the best draft picks, then make the big changes.

jc's locked in on cooley, no one on the sidelines is smart enough to know that the other team might be keying on this....don't throw it to moss/are/MK/DT, just FORCE it to cooley.
yeah they scored a TD, but this is just a microcosm of whats wrong with this team...te screen....rb screen....this offensive game plan is ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC...

he still sucks and owes us 2 more TD's to equal ints....no way that happens

The same. It's a 6 point lead with a quarter to play. At home. Against a horrible 0-3 team with a no-name QB.
He's thrown 2 TDs. He's also thrown 2 INTs, and the big fumble, leading to 7 of Tampa Bay's 10 points.

Chicago scored 48 points against Detroit! That is all I have to say this week. Pitiful!
Posted by: JohnWWW | October 4, 2009 5:14 PM | Report abuse
The defense showed up today and played reasonably well. That kept us in the game after the offenses's and Jason Campbell's terrible first half.
But the worst part of this team is not JC, even though the first half was the worst I've ever seen him play. Heyer was pushed into the backfield all day, couldn't move his feet and body to keep up with the DE, and if he could have blocked 58 on the screen to Cooley, Cooley would have had another 20 yards. Heyer stinks up the place every game. Rhino actually shows promise, and even though Rabach killed us with at least two costly holding penalties, I did see him go downfied and block. (First time I've seen that from him in a year.)
Don't bother drafting another QB until you get an OLine for him, Mr. Snyderatto. I know you don't draft OLine in fantasy football, but the NFL is not fantasy football. At least not for good NFL teams.

We are very lucky to have won. We do not play with Heart and soul. I love watching a Tampa player point towards Redskins as he pointed towards his heart. They really played hard. We should be grateful to the Tampa kicker for missingtwo field goals. Lets hope that we win next week.
Posted by: maz3 | October 4, 2009 8:36 PM | Report abuse
The Redskins are simply awful... no leadership, no energy, no spirit.
They are an insult to the uniform, to the players and coaches who have gone before them and to the investment skills of the owner.
