100,000 TCCLs!!!!!!!

They said it couldn't be done. Ha! You guys showed 'em. Sometime, I'm sure MV Dame and Nate and Kost and Dorf and my boytoy know the exact nanosecond. As for me, I was getting my beauty sleep. Kudos to all! And now, or at least until there's a sequel to the ultimatum, we return to our regular programming.

Congrats RI! Now on to the systematic dismantling of the gints!

Do we have an official winner?

Posted by: SCSkinsFan | September 23, 2007 9:26 AM | Report abuse

We do. It was I'm Gonna Be 100,000th at 1:42.43 EDT for:
I'll keep it short and sweet -- Family. Religion. Friendship. These are the three demons you must slay if you wish to succeed in business.

As Dr. Evil said after his night of passion with Frau Farbissina: "It got a little weird, didn't it?"

Posted by: Cindy | September 23, 2007 9:40 AM | Report abuse

*hugs* to everyone and HTTR.

Speaking of religion, I'm heading too the game in just a bit my blogee peeps. Hope to see all of you there.

My prediction:
Redskins 27
Gints 9

Congratulations, all, to acheiving The Boren Ultimatum without me.

Thanks especially to those who knew that wasn't the real MV Dame.

Now on to business... Cyn Cyty, I'm going to have to ask for a recount, a new winner, if you will...

Posted by: MV Dame | September 23, 2007 10:48 AM | Report abuse

I submit to you that the 100,000th comment was the 953rd one posted on the Yikes! thread. Though 1:42 am on September 23, 2007 was the exact time, it was not the "Family. Religion. Friendship." post that won. That post was two spots late.

The real winner of The Boren Ultimatum is:

I have a theory that the Washington politics and the regular turnover of the federal government help spread the seed of Skins fandom. Think about it, congress and all the staff, the executive branch all get cleaned out and then go back, branded by teh Skins.

Posted by: Stumped | September 23, 2007 01:42 AM

Thoughts, Cyn Cyty?

Stumped, congratulations.

Oh, good Lord! I think I know the feeling the last Army Rangers in the closing scene of Commando felt when they swooped in on a chopper, only to find Schwarzenneger and Alyssa Milano's characters walking through the corpses: "I missed all the fun!" I come in, bearing soda and snacks to help kick us over the threshold, and we've already busted past it!

Good work, people!

Congrats to all of you regulars that BYGO.
Let's go Skins!
Hail Yeah!

Just for chuckles, how about coming up with an Algorythm that determines what percentage of the 100K TCCLs are anything more than the noodlings of people with nothing to say, or have something to do with football. My guess would be about 5%

Don't get me wrong, there is some fine footbal lstuff here, but the biggest disadvantage to those of us who actually have lives is wading through all the carpola that goes with it. Heck, I'll bet 20% of the record setting posts are bozos claiming "first" or "Forty-fifst."

I missed all the festivities up here last night, anonymous. So I had to come on and set the record straight as to who the real winner was... WE ALL ARE!

Now hopefully I can just stop counting...

Posted by: MV Dame | September 23, 2007 11:50 AM | Report abuse

Agreed, game day enough bean counting?!?!?!

CHRIS Larry'S keys to game:

1. Moderate to heavy pressure on Eli. They have good O line but must rattle him some. When pressured he averages 2 brain farts a game.

2. Shut down run game, cold.

3. Hit a BIG pass play in the first 6 offensive plays. Could be early back breaker.

4. Wade The Fabini must be respectable on Right side.

5. First 100 yard game for cp, 80 combined yards for Sloppy Seconds.

6. No Ints for soups, I thinnk we can survive one, but for continued confidence I hope he hangs a 0.

7. Good punting. Eli can stretch the feild, so lets keep than on long drives.....

I just saw the tail-end of the Fox Pregame analysis of the Gints sorry D.

Did anyone notice if they even mentioned the Redskins at all? Why is it that the 'Skins opponents get all the coverage???

How about a little respect?

Posted by: SCSkinsFan | September 23, 2007 12:14 PM | Report abuse

do you think after our herculian effort, the fact that its game day, that we now have 2 beat writers we could get some FB/Skins related posts?

just sayin...

Posted by: Chris Larry | September 23, 2007 12:35 PM | Report abuse

No substantive Redskins posts for two days, but at least we have some useless (unless you sell Internet advertising) count to discuss. Maybe the Washington Times, ESPN,, extremeskins, etc., etc., have something about our team.

Thanks for helping the use your posts to make money for them - now what have they done for you lately?

although Who Cares is cranky, and i love the whole 100,000 thing...he brings/raises some solid, valid points...

Fellow DC expats, can someone, ANYONE advise on a good way to find Skins fans/bars in your city? I'm in Cincy for a year now and because my landlord prohibits Direct TV and T-W cable doesn't offer the NFL Network, I've gotta find somewhere to watch games. Luckily today's game is on locally, but I'm gonna need somewhere soon, preferably where that is pro-Skins....I am tired of getting 1 TV with no volume and playing 2nd fiddle to the Bungles....thanks, GO SKINS

In the interest of getting it back the Skins- any insight/thoughts on our corner situation? It seemed to me that Springs was the #1 CB coming into the season; now it appears that Carlos is our #1, and when healthy Smoot is #2. Even Leigh Torrence and Macklin got a lot of playing time against Philly. Has Springs become persona non grata? Hope they don't do him like they did LaVar; when healthy he's still a solid corner and could be very important to a playoff run.

Posted by: LMG | September 23, 2007 12:56 PM | Report abuse

LMG I the the Hogs fan site ( has a city by city list of Skins friendly bars.

Posted by: Chris Larry | September 23, 2007 12:57 PM | Report abuse

Yeah Who Cares is Right. I stick around for the community. I'm ready to jump to board provided it shares the same format. I don't like the sign, post, signature yada yada bs. Find me that and get everyone on board. I'm ready to go as I've said numerous times.

That Steinbog isn't exactly stimulating but maybe he'll get into it with some serious hits.

Posted by: Skinz | September 23, 2007 1:00 PM | Report abuse

Nice keys to the game C-Larry. Here are a couple more things that I think will be huge:

1) Win the turnover battle. Obviously this is one of the biggest indicators in football. If we force more than we commit, we win this game handily.
2) To that end, Soup must play within himself. I love the kid, his upside (Hubby Brown shout out) is huge, but he is still only 9 starts into his career. He needs to reduce the forces (that INT against Philly was brutal) and not be afraid to scramble. I love his pocket presence, but sometimes I feel he's a tad bit too hesitant to run. Rather he err on that side versus happy feet but....

Posted by: LMG | September 23, 2007 1:01 PM | Report abuse

My true feeling is they want to save Springs. He is older and brittle and they probably want him for division/strong WR games.

I think in Cover 3 you dont'really need strong man coverage corners. You need strong tacklers who don't get beat deep. As a result they'll let Springs get less work on those games that don't require it.

Posted by: Skinz | September 23, 2007 1:02 PM | Report abuse

I'm with you except for #3. I think that's exactly what we need to restrain from thinking. Pound them into submission. Get a 10 point lead then put it in the air.

Soup is still mistake prone and an early turnover gives a downtroden team hope.

Posted by: Skinz | September 23, 2007 1:04 PM | Report abuse

w/u in principal...i just think 1. the missed bomb to santana is in their craw and they are gonna look to rectify and 2. the gints are so weak deep, if they hit one early they will be discombobulated we can pound and do what we want the rest of the day..

According to FOX Sports, Giants WR Plaxico Burress (ankle, questionable) will play in Week 3 at Washington.

Posted by: Chris Larry | September 23, 2007 1:13 PM | Report abuse

i guess no 1 pm game talk up here today....

Posted by: Chris Larry | September 23, 2007 1:31 PM | Report abuse

Thanks for the effort in getting it back to the Skins. Macklin and Torrence getting more time last week was the result of Smoot being inactive. I will be annoyed if Springs is not on Plexiglass all day. He def has an advantage over Rogers and Smoot, gimpy ankle or not.

CL - I'm checking the Eagles game. Either their O is much improved over last week or Detroit's d stinks. I'm going with Detroits D stinks and the Skins D is back.

I'm just glad it's over.

You see a lot of bumper stickers out here that say: Keep Portland Weird.

The RI blog is beyond weird, i hope we can get back to normal (beyond weird).

LFM - Shrink the Giants.

I am ok with some weirdness...just seems we talked more FB during the offseason...but i love the jibba jabba too...its like O football...balance...

my growing issues is stagnation top down...(lookin at u janso)....

Not that he wasn't already, but if the Chargers lose to GB today Norv is officially a loser head coach. All that talent and his smug we need to win when it matters in the playoffs. D bag.

Anyone else watching the Eagles/Lions game? Their ripping the Lions a new one. McNabb may have also just been hurt. He was down for a little bit but got back up and limped off.

Posted by: bigfish | September 23, 2007 1:56 PM | Report abuse

35-7 Eagles with 11:32 left in the 2nd Q. The Lions D is just horrible.

Posted by: bigfish | September 23, 2007 2:07 PM | Report abuse

Chris, thanks for the info on Skins-friendly wattering holes, much appreciated. And Skinz, interesting and perhaps valid point on saving Springs. Isn't it nice to actually talk about the topic that spawned this whole thing versus wading thru people with nothing better to do than impersonate Nate in the PDX?

2 hours!!!
