Redskins Insider: September 24, 2006 - September 30, 2006

Award Time

So much fodder this week, with the TO saga and all, and so little time: 1 TCCL - KimmyPR. What was she thinking? I know she had to change her tune from the night before and get in spin mode, but that press-conference performance will live in infamy. Drew Rosenhaus...

On a More Serious Note - Brunell and Springs

Brunell is a much less cumbersome wrap on his throwing arm today and says his left elbow is feeling better. He plans to throw some passes on the side during practice and is not sure how many drills he will take part in, but is definitely progressing. Practice starts in...

Portis No Longer in Character; Cooley Goes Corporate

CP says his shoulder feels fine but his inspiration for his costumed press conference has been sapped. And, on the same day we heard that sad news comes another blog-buster: Cooley has cut his hair. It's like 1991 all over for me, when Metallica all showed up with the trims...

The Circus Is Over, The Gloves Are Off

The statute of limitation on TO jokes is now over. After that press conference, bring it on. His publicisit, Kim, is asking for it with her ditz routine and contradictory statements. She began losing credibility when she uttered this line, early on: "When I see a man of his statute."...

More Brunell

Coach Joe says he still thinks Mark will start Sunday. That's how they are preparing. Coillins getting the snaps while Brunell is out. So that's how they will go forward. There's a good chance Mark will not practice Thursday, either....

Brunell Not Practicing; Guess Who Took His Snaps?

Mark Brunell did not practice with his left arm still wrapped up due the elbow injury. He cut it Sunday and that arm was essentially immobile during practice. Brunell says he is day-to-day and is unsure is he can practice Thursday, either. When I asked him if he thought Sunday...

T.O. Update

So 5 seconds after I post that blog entry I check my email inbox and I get this piece of trash from some marketing idiot trying to make a buck off this fiasco. It's this kind of stuff that makes a me ill. Here's the press release "Hi Jason, Terrell...

T.O.

I'm not sure any of us can be certain about what happened here, but I don't see this being a "publicity stunt." I don't think anyone wants that kind of attention, not even TO. He has long struck me as someone who is probably dealing with some childhood/depression issues -...

Size Matters

Will be interesting to see how the Skins handle the largess of the Jags receivers, corners and D Line. This is going to be a real war at the line of scrimmage, and I think we'll continue to see more pulling plays to get Portis outside the tackles. Running inside...

A Week on the NFL Beat

Redskins wins are great for locale morale, but they can put a hurtin' on the media schlubs assigned to cover the team. Here's a quick breakdown on our access - the windows in which we have time to conduct interviews and catch up with players and coaches - depending...

Random Tuesday

Random Tuesday Should be pretty quiet out here today with no practice. Not expecting much from The Park today ... Taylor Jacobs looks like he is slipping into oblivion on The Left Coast. Dressed for the first two games with San Fran, did not catch a ball, and was...

What Went Wrong

Now that we've handed out the gold stars, lets take inventory of the not so hot. Andre Carter still looks lost to me. He never really took advantage of that awful offensive line, failed to do anything significant to build on and did not register a single tackle. He...

Monday Morning H-Back

What did we learn from this game? Hmmm. Well, the Texans might have the worst defense in the NFL. They really can't tackle can they? They over-pursued, bit hard on misdirection plays and lost their confidence by halftime. Not sure how much of the offensive fireworks to attribute to...

TJ Duckett Sits, Somewhere Mike Shanahan is laughing

TJ Duckett is scratched for this game. Skins gave the equivalent of a third-round pick to get this guy in three-way trade with Denver and Atlanta. So through three weeks with Washington, he will have appeared in a single contest, with 5 rushes for 24 yards. Considering the import of...
