Redskins Insider: April 22, 2007 - April 28, 2007

Coach Joe Speaks

Well, not a whole lot to glean from coach's brief comments to us media schlubs. They didn't get much action for the sixth pick I have heard, because as you can see Peterson went 7 and Quinn is dropping like a rock, so there weren't any player people wanted to...

They Stuck With the Board - It's Landry

The Washington Redskins utilized the sixth pick on safety LaRon Landry today, selecting the highest rated defensive player on their draft board. Landry does not address the club's biggest needs on the defensive line, but the club hopes he will aid in the sagging pass coverage and provide another...

Skins Haven't Called Landry Yet

Heard he has not got the call yet, but the Skins are trying to trade down so that's not entirely unusual and theer is still some time left. They will try like heck to deal down. Not sure if they have called Okoye, trying to pin it down....

Can They Trade Down?

So with Quinn and Peterson still on the board - the scenario many in the Skins organization had dreamed of - will they be able to make it work to their advanatge. I hear the Bears tals as of 3 minutes ago had not progressed, but maybe Buffalo, Miami, Green...

Now It Gets Interesting, Maybe

Everyone becially knew the QB was going 1st and the WR 2nd (a trade of CJ to TB still could go down), but the Browns have been something of a wildcard. They could use Quinn, Peterson or Thomas. NFL Network reported that Thomas would be the pick, but we'll see....

Why Do The Raiders Get To Go On The Clock?

I'm just saying? Shouldn't they have to just make the damn pick at noon? They've had 3 months to figure this thing out. Somehow I think that should suffice. Sounds like a blog-law to me. Whatdya think?...

When Did Deion Become Flavor Flav?

Anyone else see NFL Network right now? Deion is now the hype man for the NFL. Never thought I would see the day. He's like the Flavor Flav to Comissioner Goodell's Chuck D. What is the world coming to? Why not just bring in Vince McMahon to fire up the...

So Far ... Nothing

Pretty quiet out here. Could still pull off a trade - even the Briggs trade - but will probably come down to the wire on the clock. Should the Browns take Joe Thomas as NFL Network is reporting, then the Skins might be sitting pretty and really be able to...

Cue the Confetti

It is with awe and great joy that I report that we have topped 50,000!!!!! Actually, this deserves a few more: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are, at this moment, at 50,091. Now...I need a new quest....

Clearing Up The Briggs Trade

I tried to make this clear in the story I did last night, but I think in the final edit maybe it was not clear enough. The Skins have held firm - to their credit, finally - on their original offer to flop draft picks for Briggs. Rocky is no...

Leftover Draft Story

Yesterday was one of those days in this business where you go in with a plan, write one story, continue your reporting all day and by 8 pm you are completely re-writting everything due to what you have heard. So the first story I did never saw the light of...

Move The Draft To DC?

Cyn Cyty is attneding a meeting with the Comish in NYC and sent in a guest blog. Before I get to that, there should be a fairly interesting Skins story posted on our website in the next hour or so, so look out for that, and also, you guys are...

Web Chat Today

Hey guys, still trying ot stay hot on the draft trail. I am doing a chat on Washingtonpost.com at 11, so look forward to answering all of your questions (or fibbing my way through the really obscure draft kids I may get asked about). I'll try to post more stuff...

One Last Thing From The Presser

Was wondering what you guys thought of the idea posited by the Skins on Tuesday that there was probably no one in the draft who could earn a starting job on their roster out of training camp. Have to say that while I am all for a bit of gamesmanship...

My Quest For Answers Must Wait Another Year

I was about to ask the owner about why he chooses this week to speak when the dang thing ended. Oh well, I'll try again next April. Have to say for me the highlight of the whole presser was Snyder's unsolicited revisting of his meeting with Lloyd at the owner's...

Pre-Draft Presser

A cynic might call any afternoon pre-draft press conference with an NFL clubs the "Liar's Lunch," because at this time of year in particular it doesn't behoove any club to tips its hand. So at 4 pm Coach Joe and Vinny and Dan Snyder will sit on a stage and...

I'd Take Okoye, Would You Say Landry?

I'm the first to admit that I am hardly a sage NFL scout, and there is little chance I would be earning a paycheck that way if this writing thing ever fell through. But, this time of year, everyone pretends to be a talent evaluator, right? And after spending 10...
