Redskins Insider: September 2, 2007 - September 8, 2007

Countdown (the One Sans Olbermann)

It's a perfect storm of excitement -- the season kicks off tomorrow and we're at 88,222 posts, just 666 shy of reaching the Boren Penultimatum. Given that we did 673 yesterday and have 25+ hours to go, I think we'll make it. I'm still fixated on the first offensive play...

Cody Boyd Is Out

Boyd's stinger will keep him out. Everyone else is probable and set to play. Have a good weekend guys. Cheers....

Numbers To Consider

I think a few issues could well decide what I expect to be a tight and low scoring game Sunday. None of this is earth shattering stuff, I confess, but just some specific things I'll be watching. 38 - If I'm a Skins fan I'd like to see this team...

Today's Schedule

Jasno will join you shortly...he's working the locker room until 3. Nate requested a new post and I'm here to do whatever is needed to accomplish the Boren Penultimatum....

Renaldo A Wanted Man/Other Stuff

Hey there, heard that Renaldo Wynn did not sign with the Saints yet although he did visit there as reported. A few other teams are interested, too, and something looks like it will get done next week. Don't pay any attention to the stuff of profootbalk.com about Brunell, it's way...

Collins Is the No. 2

Coach Gibbs just said he told the QBs and that Todd, based on his play this preseason, is the No. 2 QB. Brunell is No. 3....

Things To Watch

People close to Brunell tell me the veteran believes he will be the No. 3 QB this season, but the passers are still waiting to get word from Gibbs. Imagine he'll go ahead and tell them in the next few days, with Sunday fast approaching and all. The Jason Taylor...

The Rooster Hits The Big Time

Our guy Ross "The Rooster" Tucker did a piece for SI that every football fan, sports fan, or, anyone interested in the human side of pro athletics, must read. I got to know Ross a bit in the preseason and the guy has a big future beyond football. As he...

No Word on The Backup

Gibbs says he has selected a No. 2 QB, but refuses to talk about it until he has a chance to tell the QBs themsevles. Again, from the sliver of practice we get to see Todd got a few reps with the second team and Mark wasn't getting any, but,...

Who Will Be No. 2?

Jasno just called from the practice field. He reports that Todd Collins quarterbacked the second team's first drill of the afternoon. We're not saying this means TC is No. 2, but Joe Gibbs usually decides by the Monday before the opener. Of course, he could flip-flop day-to-day this week, too....

Renaldo In New Orleans

Heard that he got called by the Saints yesterday and was on his way flying there, but couldn't get it confirmed until today. Waiting to see if he got signed by them. Also, with Reche Caldwell cut in New Orleans, I'd have to think that's a player who would interest...

Roster Now At 53

The Redskins claimed two players off waivers that I am going to be the first to admit I know absolutely nothing about - WR Shaun Bodiford and TE Cody Boyd. Never heard of them. They cut TE Eric Edwards so the roster is at the max, but I still think...

Rest of the Practice Squad

Kili Lefotu (OL), Brian Bell (FB) and Burl Toler (WR) round out the squad. Turns out none of the QBs the Skins ran through here even end up on the practice squad....

Practice Squad

Working to get a few more things confirmed, but here are 5 guys they have signed for the 8 man practice squad. DE Alex Buzbee (Georgetown kid showed well) CR Byron Westbrook (local kid was an immediate hit but has a ways to go) LB Anthony Trucks (he worked his...
