Redskins Insider: March 30, 2008 - April 5, 2008
The Numbers Don't Lie
It's been impossible not to notice the stark contrast between this off season and most every one prior under Dan Snyder/Vinny Cerrato. Even in previous years where spending was down, they were always chasing at least a few free agents from the onset, wining and dining players at the start...

Update On An Old Friend
Would be remiss if I let some news regarding an old favorite in these parts pass any longer. The wide receiver, No. 85, found a new home (at least temporarily) while I was on vacation, and figured I'd post on that situation. This guy cost the Redskins a 3rd...

Preseason Schedule
The Redskins' preseason schedule has just been released, although as you'll remember it first comes out with just the opponents and the weekend of some games in the middle of the preseason: Aug. 3 -- Hall of Fame game against Indianapolis in Canton, Ohio Aug. 7-10 -- vs. Buffalo Aug....

The Nickname
The Vinny-based nickname contest drew some quality early returns. I like Stu's attempt thus far from the bunch. His email to me read: How about a variation on "Veni, vidi, vici"? See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veni,_vidi,_vici Considering the level to which he's risen, the Latin version of "Vinny the Conqueror" or "Vinny's Conquerors"...

Mock Draft (Made For TV)
Let me preface this by saying that as a rule I can't stomach mock drafts. I find them tedious and irrelevant, as odious as Power Rankings in Week 2 and all of that "braketology" nonsense that begins around Thanksgiving. Whole lotta talkin', but ain't sayin' nothing. So, as the complete...

Feelings About Vinny
As I wrote at length after the Zorn hiring, this is the Vinny Cerrato era, not the Jim Zorn era. He is in charge, hiring and firing PR people, devising new media guidelines, overseeing spending, setting a draft strategy. It's all him - he hired Zorn, was the voice behind...

Performance-Based Pay
The NFL announced the annual leaders in performanced-based pay, a sytem explained below. One Skin, G Jason Fabini, cracked the top 25. The lesson here, looking at the top 25 guys, is that there is plenty of cheap talent to be found on the O Line and in the secondary....

I'm Back
After a few weeks of vacation and time to tend to some family issues, I am happy to be back among the blog faithful. So, real quick, what did I miss?? Okay, not much, just as I suspected. I'm pretty much cool with the tack Vinny Cerrato has taken with...
