Anthony Bryant takes Haynesworth's spot

Washington Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth is inactive for today's game against the Houston Texans, the team confirmed.

Fourth-year lineman Anthony Bryant will likely be the back-up nose tackle. Bryant impressed throughout the preseason but has played in just nine games in his career, with three starts. Bryant played with the Miami Dolphins, Detroit Lions and Tampa Bay Buccaneers before signing with Washington in April. He has 11 career tackles and was inactive for last week's season-opener against the Dallas Cowboys.

Haynesworth, who appeared in 12 of 16 games ast season, sprained his ankle on Wednesday in practice. Though he returned to practice on Friday, Redskins Coach Mike Shanahan would not comment on his status for Sunday's game. It appears the injury was significant enough to hold the All-Pro out against the Texans.

Haynesworth has not played an entire 16-game season since his rookie year in 2002.

Other inactives are defensive lineman Jeremy Jarmon, offensive lineman Will Montgomery, wide receiver Brandon Banks, safety Kareem Moore, linebacker Perry Riley, and tight end Logan Paulsen. John Beck is the third quarterback.

On Houston's inactive list: receiver Dorin Dickerson, cornerbacks Antwaun Molden and Jamar Wall, guards Kasey Studdard and Shelley Smith, tight end Garrett Graham and defensive end Adewale Ogunleye. Matt Leinart is the Texans' third quarterback.

You know, I do not like Albert Haynesworth but I have been against trading him for a low to mid pick up to this point. I now would take a ham sandwich to get this guy outta here.

I've got Vick starting in two different leagues... once for Schaub and once for Flacco. I should have factored in the zoron portion of the equation on draft day.

Wonder if there's anybody who still thinks the media overdid its coverage of the Haynesworth saga in the offseason...

Well, at least the Cowgirls have been absolutely inept.

Well, put me in that group. What coverage? There was nothing but a lot of speculation, phony drama, and conjecture. It was dull and boring then and it's dull and boring now.

I wouldn't trade until the trade deadline. I'd take the 4th rounder that's on the table then. hopefully by then Jarmon is back to full strength because going forward Jarmon I hope will be the on Dlman who can draw a double in pass rush situations.

Report: Albert Haynesworth inactive today

He twisted his ankle at practice?

Doubt this, after watching a youtube clip of Albert Haynesworth carrying bags of Dan Snyder's money and boxes of Popeye's Chicken home all at the same time.

Haynesworth tripping over a pile of dog sh!t in his driveway: Damn, I just dropped my money.

But at least I saved my biscuits 'n gravy.

"Well, at least the Cowgirls have been absolutely inept."

The issue with this is that the redskins just barely beat an inept team.

And from my perspective, that's just not good.

Here's a guy who shows up for camp when he wants...he keeps his team dangling like worm on a fish hook...the Vikings fall in love with a guy who threw a PICK when it counted...he has 3 picks today...

Favre's a jackass and gets WAAAAAAY too much of a pass. No one man is bigger than the game. I hope the Vikes lose all 16 games!!!!!!

So what? The important point is that Dallas is in deep shiite. Your statement is like saying "I won a Mercedes in a raffle, but I'm really disappointed because it has a flat tire."

Posted by: beep-beep | September 19, 2010 4:00 PM | Report abuse

Now that Albert Haynesworth is out for the game the Washington Post can assign three or four sports writers to sit with and interview him extensively about every play. That way they can write a special of the paper focusing exclusively on Albert Haynesworth's thoughts on the game.

I know I can't wait to read it. I'm sure everyone else feels the same. We all want to read only about Albert Haynesworth because, after all, isn't the Redskins' story only about Albert Haynesworth?

After he leaves the team, perhaps the Post can assign reporters to follow Albert Haynesworth for the rest of his life and tell the Albert Haynesworth story forever, generation after generation.

Heyer (heyer!) did a really nice job on that TD run. Also, Cooley did a great job o sealing the LB off to the right, which created that big hole. Hooray for touchdowns!
