A 13-0 Hole at the Half
In retrospect, maybe that first quarter wasn't so bad.
In the second quarter, the Lions hung six more points on the Redskins - Jason Hansen's two field goals extended Detroit's lead to 13-0 - and Washington lost the most expensive defensive player in the NFL. After he made a big third-down sack, defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth was carted off the field with a right hip flexor. Though his return was listed as questionable, he was unable to walk off the field, and it didn't appear he was able to put any weight on his right leg.
In dominating the Redskins through one half, Detroit controlled the clock 22 minutes to the Redskins' 8 minutes. While quarterback Jason Campbell's halftime numbers look fine - 8 for 13 for 101 yards -- it's the Redskins' running game that did them few favors. The Lions' ran for 116 yards, compared to the Redskins' 0. And Detroit running back Kevin Smith already has 82 yards on 12 carries. Clinton Portis, who was limited in practice last week and listed as questionable entering the game, posted minus-2 yards on 4 carries. Not good.
All three of the Lions' scoring drives started inside their own 10-yard line.
The Lions' rookie quarterback Matt Stafford has posted the two best quarters of his brief career, finishing the half 14-of-24 passing for 164 yards and a touchdown.
Perhaps the biggest first-half surprise is the Redskins' defense, which has struggled mightily against a poor offensive team. The Lions were ranked No. 29 in the NFL on third-down conversions; in one half against the Redskins, they converted nine of 12 attempts. Detroit amassed 274 yards of offense in the first half; the Redskins only 74.
On the bright side, Redskins' punter Hunter Smith averaged 53.5 yards on two punts in the opening half.

Zorn has lost this team. Looks like Blache has as well. Both being schooled by the Lions on how to play FB in the NFL.
This team is completely unmotivated and has zero confidence.
Zorn should have inactivated CP since he is not healthy and to show the team that no one is above the team. Once again Zorn showed why he does not need to wear a jock strap. No STONES!!

I can only hope our players don't give up on this game and the season as quickly as the fans. I absolutely hate losing as much as any of you, but this same Detroit team was up 10-0 last week against Minnesota and looked well on its way to its first win. And last I checked, they did not get the W.
But even if we don't win this game, I am not giving up on this team or this season. 1-2 would obviously not be a good start, but the season would be far from over.
Hail.
