After quick TD, Redskins trail 10-7 after 1 quarter

Coming off of a loss to the Dallas Cowboys in which they failed to find the end zone, the Redskins were gifted an early opportunity when the Eagles kicked an onside kick to open the game. Quinton Ganther recovered the kick and returned it to the 24, and a five-yard penalty moved the ball to the 19-yard line.

A couple passes from Jason Campbell - six yards to Santana Moss and 10 to Antwaan Randle El - moved Washington to the one-yard line, and Campbell faked a handoff and kept the ball for a touchdown to give Washington the early 7-0 lead.

The Eagles responded quickly behind a balanced 79-yard drive that featured runs of 19 and 18 yards by LeSean McCoy and Leonard Weaver, and after appearing to score on fourth-and-1, an offensive pass interference call nullified the score and pushed Philadelphia back and they were forced to settle for a 29-yard David Akers' field goal.

The Redskins punted on their next drive, and DeSean Jackson nearly took the return for a touchdown if not for a tackle by safety Kareem Moore. Six plays later, however, Jackson made up for it by getting wide open down the left sideline on what appeared to be broken coverage and a scrambling McNabb found him for an easy 35-yard touchdown pass that gave the Eagles a 10-7 lead.

Washington started to march down the field, and after moving 28 yards the quarter ended with the Redskins at midfield.

AND I JUST SAW A TERRIBLE PASS BY JASON! WTF JASON?!?!

Could Campbell have waited another 30 minutes or so to throw that ball? That INT was all on JC that ball has to be on the way before the guy even stops his pattern, Moss was open and sitting there, then the ball finally came in time to get picked.

What really irritates me about Jason is that for every touchdown pass he throws, he MUST have an interception. The TD to INT ratio is 1:1. Just ridiculous.

Lol, another JC excuser, that pattern was run to get the first the ball should have been out before Santanna stopped his break, instead it was late and Asante had time to stop, read the play and break on the ball from 10 yards back.

Like the play McNabb just made, Fletcher was right there but couldn't do anything about cause the ball came out on time. The difference between a good QB and JC, its not physical, its mental.

Okay, you wait 10 sec to take a timeout when the Eagles didn't get the first down on their last drive. Then you keep trying to run ineffective WR screens. And JC just threw another pick. The first one was inexcusable: he waited WAY too long to throw it to Moss, who was wide open.

All Soup lovers' true feelings....

In DC, TC has a better winning percentage, QB rating and TD %, and is the only QB on the roster to lead the team to the playoffs. Years of winning wasted on a perennial losing, choking QB. The excuses change but the QB does not. The best players don't play on this team and the record gets worse by the week. Awfully shameful and disappointing.

Dum-@$$ Campbell again looks short and get intercepted instead of looking deep at the open man. The defense basically has a book on Campbell Soup-head and he is as easy to read as a nursery rhyme. He will always go the short "safe" route instead of taking a chance at the long timing route, because he is not accurate!

No, I think you are the one wrong this time.

To answer PAskins,

Yes, If JC leads the skins to victory with TD's, then yes, that is really the only stat that matters. My statement of TD's being the only stat that truly matters is in response to all the stat geeks that point out JC's ratings. They fail to mention his W-L record though.

I've been a Campbell supporter, but he definitely has regressed. Both picks were on Campbell.

Skins needed to take a deep shot on that 3rd down call that resulted in the 2nd pick. Low risk, since a pick wouldn't give philly any field position. Roll Campbell to buy an extra second or so and go long in situations like that.

Not good to see Levi Jones getting owned, though

I don't think you know what an nfl starter is.

So it's okay if we call the next pro sports team that moves into town the "Washington N**gers"? No problem, eh?

It's just a "proud tradition". Just like Jim Crow was.

Washington area football fans are worse than fair weather fans - they openly claim that they will ONLY root for their team if it has a racist nickname. Now there's some solid fans!

You see absolutely no problem with your logic, do you? Spend some time thinking about it and you won't come across as... well, not too bright. Appreciate your passion, but...

@MrRedskin21

Yes, and N*gger is only *usually* a pejorative slur. Not always. So let's just change the name to the Washington Ni**ers.

You know, to "honor" the African American community in DC.

JohnWWW, I'm not saying that doesn't happen, but if JC holds onto the ball another 1/4 second it's a fumble, maybe another 6 for the Iggles. Pretty bad throw there, though. Can't take anything away from Asante either.

And don't feed the trolls.

Again, I ask myself, why am I watching this game? Beautiful day outside.

B2O2,

do you also want the Seminoles name changed and the Vikings, and the Celtics? I could go on and on........

Ever think it honors the Indigenous peoples of this continent?

Todd Collins may stink but he couldn't do any worse than Jason I'm Completely Incompetent Campbell. My 13 year old could do as well. Replace this guy with the water boy-- with anyone. Enough already.

MyPostIDisAfake, I know you love Soup and want him to succeed, as you mentioned earlier. But the facts point to the other guy starting for now, not 10 years from now. Backing Campbell is like saying I like losing and I care more about the cult of Campbell than the team winning. Is he your FF QB or something?

"Spend some time thinking about it and you won't come across as... well, not too bright."

Okay... fan-o-matic, perhaps you'd care to edify me as to the "flaw" in my logic? "Redskin" is defined the same way in the dictionary as w-o-p or the N-word is. So, I have asked if anyone here would have a problem with the team being called the "Washington N*ggers", or the Washington Dirty W*ps".

So far, in place of reasonable responses I have gotten "B2O2=moron", "it's only USUALLY pejorative", and "B2O2 is trolling". Nothing of any substance. Pretty telling.

@1965skinsfan

"Seminoles name changed and the Vikings, and the Celtics"

Are these listed in the very dictionary as "pejorative slurs for [southern American native peoples, Scandanavians, or ancient European peoples]? I must have missed that.

Sorry, but that's up to you to work out on your own. I'm not here to do your legwork for you. Instead, I'm here following some football from afar. I would also suggest that you read the article that was referenced and avoid trying to apply simplistic rules to make your argument.
