Al Saunders/Overall Update

Spoke again today to a few more people who have been in contact with Al Saunders, associate head coach. He has no idea about what's going on with the process. Has not received any word and has not been given any indication that he will be given a chance to interview for the position.

In fact, one source close to Saunders said the veteran coach does not believe he will get an interview or he would have heard something by now. "It doesn't look like he's really a candidate," the source said.

Williams and Saunders have gone underground. They aren't returning calls. They aren't anywhere around Redskins Park where you can even see them. Incognito, baby. But team sources said Williams will most definitely be a part of the process and, as I posted earlier, he is expected to interview at the end of the cycle, likely the final interview, sometime next week, or, if there are delays in lining up other candidates next week, perhaps the week after that.

In addition to Jim Schwartz, the Redskins must interview a minority candidate, and will likely interview at least one coach currently involved in the playoffs early next week, assuming his team loses. Add in Williams and you're looking at at least 4 interviews in all likelihood.
