Haynesworth plays mostly at nose tackle

After much speculation about the type of role Albert Haynesworth would play in the season opener, the All-Pro defensive tackle played mostly in spurts - seeing action on 16 snaps in the first three quarters, primarily at nose tackle.

Haynesworth's first action came on the game's sixth offensive play, a second and 8 from the Cowboys' 35-yard line - his only play of the opening drive. The defensive tackle saw the bulk of his playing time during the second quarter, when he was in for five consecutive plays at nose tackle.

The Cowboys' drive started at the one-yard line. Haynesworth came onto the field with the defense and remained for the next five plays. On one run in that drive, Haynesworth was completely sealed up on a double team. He did not register a tackle.

Haynesworth picked up his first tackle of the game on his first snap of the second half, stopping Tashard Choice's run out of the wildcat formation after a gain of four. Haynesworth was in on three tackles and played all six snaps of the drive, which ended with Tony Romo finding Miles Austin for a four-yard touchdown pass.

You have to give the referees credit. Takes nerve to call a penalty on the last play. The Cowboys have taken advantage of that reluctance for years and held just like that in those situations. Of course, that hold was so obvious it took some of the bravery factor out of it. HTTR!

This was posted on this site by a cowgirl fan on Aug 12.....FU&% you////////////////////////

I am a diehard Cowboy fan and I occassionally lurk on this Insider board to see what's going on with the Redskins and usually have a good chuckle or two when you guys rip Cowboys fans and each other for any perceived slights against the Redskins.
Now is the time for me to speak because I can only take so much of you guys forgetting who you are (in my profession we call this "selective amnesia", which your mother termed "wishful thinking").
Are you aware of the facts that your team is the laughingstock of the entire league, your coach was fired in Denver and you guys still let him name who the GM was going to be for the Redskins (a big no-no), your quarterback was on the verge of being waived in Philadephia before being traded, your prized defensive lineman is a dog (none of you dispute this), your offensive line makes a sieve look solid, your running backs' 40-yard dashes are timed with a sun dial (with the exception of Parker, who won't even make the team)and your owner is, to be kind, clueless? That list is too much to overcome. Take the blinders off and see!
Get yourselves ready for Sunday night, September 12 when a real team comes to town, takes over your stadium, your big videoscreens and your wives (don't worry they'll give them back when they're finished), and then heads back to Texas without breaking a sweat. You know women love Cowboys, don't you?
There's my input and I'm glad I got that off my chest.
We will always defend the Star.

You would rather be lucky then good and in this case luck rules out. How Roy Williams got that open is beyond me, two blown assignments on a game ending drive is unbelievable i'm sure Jim Hasslet will have a lot to say in the meetings this week and with the Texans comming to town, well the Redskins had better be ready because Andre Johnson ain't no joke if they thought Miles Austin was a handfull wait until they get a load of Johnson and Matt Schaub the Texans QB, that being said a win is a win.

Posted by: MColeman51 | September 13, 2010 12:06 AM | Report abuse

A win is a win. As others have said, in the past few seasons, this is a game we would have lost. That being said, during the upcoming week, they need to focus on the following:

1) Special Teams: Practicing field goals. Had that field goal in the 3rd quarter not been muffed the final drive would have been irrelevant.

2) Defense: The secondary corps, while better, still needs to learn how to intercept ball. Several dropped passes could have been interceptions that would have ended the game.

3) Defense: The run stopping was horrendous. They need to improve that.

I knew DAL was probably going to lose the game when they literally blew 30 seconds on that final drive. They were also dumb not to use their timeouts before the 2:00 warning. That also cost them time.

I cursed him at first too, but on the replay, that ball kind of popped out from behind bryant and was moving fast. He just didn't have time to react. CR22 had all day to size that one up and he just missed it....AGAIN. Pretty standard.

That holding call doesn't matter because the game was over IF ONLY CR 22 COULD FRIGGEN CATCH!

GOD what is with that guy?

After much speculation about the type of role Albert Haynesworth would play in the season opener

JReid, your the only one speculating. Now will you please get of Haynesworth, he was a non-issue.

so it's not true what you say mcnabb...you can win without ..... what's his name again?

In a game like this that is so amped because it is against a team that you just deplore, the only thing that matters is to win.

All these fake wanna be Cowboys fans that never been to Dallas, but live here can pack up their fake junk and crawl back under their rocks now.

And us real Redskin Fans that live here and breathe Redskin Air know what it feels like to be a real Fan.

Hail to the Redskins!

Just got home from another pressure pack, hearth attack Redskins game, reminds me of Joe Gibbs era, but winning feels good, especially against the cows!
