As deadline nears, Albert Haynesworth trade seems unlikely

With the NFL trading deadline in less than two hours, Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth continues to be mentioned among the few high-profile players who could change teams.

To be sure, Coach Mike Shanahan, the head of Washington's football operation, would move the nine-year veteran if another team is willing to meet his asking price, according to people familiar with the situation. But as we've reported for months, we still don't get the sense that there is a potential trade partner prepared to give up a high draft pick for Haynesworth.

The NFL Network is reporting that Redskins' asking price for Haynesworth - for months believed to be a second-round pick - could be dropping as the deadline draws closer. The Tennessee Titans have had interest in Haynesworth since it became clear early in the offseason that the two-time all-pro player was not interested in Shanahan's plans to scrap the team's successful 4-3 scheme in favor of a 3-4 base front and move Haynesworth from a three-technique tackle to a nose guard and end.

Team officials were displeased that Haynesworth skipped all but one day of Shanahan's first offseason program and the mandatory June minicamp. And just when things seemed to settle down in the preseason, Haynesworth again stirred anger when he did not participate in a halftime adjustment meeting in the final preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals.

General Manager Bruce Allen recently said Haynesworth would be with the Redskins after the deadline. Shanahan also said he expected Haynesworth to remain with the team, though he stopped short of shutting the door.

Haynesworth is not Shanahan's type of player, according to former league executives who have dealt with Shanahan. And others in Redskins management, obviously, are not happy that Haynesworth, who signed in February of 2009, had already been paid $32 million before the start of the 2010 season -- only his second in Washington.

Could Haynesworth be traded? Obviously, he could. But the executives who have competed against Shanahan say he is not one to drop his asking price in trade discussions. At least in the past, once Shanahan sets a price, the price does not change.

Haynesworth has base salaries of $3.6 million this season and $5.4 million in 2011. The money was guaranteed as part of Haynesworth's record-setting contract, but the guarantees were voided when Haynesworth's skipped the minicamp.

There are 4-3 teams Haynesworth could help. With Washington's having already paid so much of the front-loaded contract, Haynesworth could be an extremely cost-effective option for the rest of this season and 2011.

But we still expect Haynesworth to be with the Redskins as of 4:01 p.m. Washington this week plays the Chicago Bears, and it would be surprising if Haynesworth was playing somewhere other than Soldier Field on Sunday.

No one really pays any attention to No_Penis_Included anymore anyway. If they are they just haven't got the memo yet. They will soon enough though as he will eventually show what he is made of. He can't help it, it's who he is. Which, given his affinity for mysoginism and other mens junk, is most likely a child molestor.

And to follow it up he's so ashamed of his own posts that he is now trying to attribute them to other posters. Sad...

How ironic that you deuchebags talk about the toughness of the NFL and how you don't want the game to devolve into badminton and then get your puny little feelings hurt by a word.

How telling. What a bunch of PC losers. You do know that political correctness is a crutch for those not mentally tough enough to think for themselves right?

I feel not one iota of guilt and actually think it's funny that some broke-asses living with their mothers or in some shanty or some other domicile in desperate need of repair effort to make themselves feel better by feverishly demonstrating their holier-than-thou fakery to assuage their feelings of social, personal, professional and financial inadequacy.

You homos give yourselves away every time.

I find it hilarious. Thank you for adding a little fun to my otherwise routine afternoon(s).

Maybe we could bump up the value of a Haynesworth trade package by adding Derrick Dockery and then asking for a first round pick. Dockery is still as good guard from my read ... I can't figure out the basis for the Lichtenspelling change.

BREAKING NEWS:
REDSKINS IN FOUR- OR FIVE-WAY TALKS CONCERNING HAYNESWORTH

ASHBURN, VA -- Informed sources are saying the Oakland Raiders are reportedly willing to trade Jason Campbell for Albert Haynesworth and a 6th round pick in the 2011 draft.

Bruce Allen is said to be engaged in a related conversation with the Cleveland Browns to take Haynesworth or Campbell in exchange for a couple of tickets to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Bruce Allen is also said to be talks with Seattle Seahawks to see if they'll take Haynesworth in exchange for an autographed picture of Hasselback's wife. Only remaining issue appears to be who pays for the picture frame.

Meanwhile, Dan Snyder has been spotted on the Alabama campus doing some advance scouting work with one of their running backs... and offering to raffle off the Hasselback picture or Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tickets during Bama's next alumni gathering for sushi and cigars.

Cutler has been sacked more than anybody else (27 times). The next closest bunch around 18-19. Eagles QBs have been sacked 20 times, but that is two guys.

The Bears defense is the reason why they're 4-2.

Despite paying Albert Haynesworth 32 million dollars since the start of the 2009 season, the Redskins and Coach Shanahan are breathing a sigh of relief to finally be done with the drama surrounding him. The Redskins sent Haynesworth to the Tennessee Titans, in exchange they will receive a 3rd round pick in 2011, as well as a possible 4th rounder in 2012. More details from both sides to follow.

ThiS Haynesworth thing in my opinion is something Shannahan needs to feed his ego his insecurity reference his job as Skin's head coach. All the crp about the ridiculous statures he for albert before he could practicethe placing him on the inactive roster because he missed a practice for an excused absence secondary to the death of his younger brother. COME ON sHANNY this stuff is not healthy for the team. If you don't want him around put him on the field so as his stock can rise an you can get some value from the trade. If you are a good coach do the thing that would help the team not your ego.
