As more defensive tackles arrive, is Haynesworth on way out?

The Redskins continued to stockpile defensive tackles Tuesday in adding former first-round draft pick Adam Carriker from the St. Louis Rams. Carriker, who sat out the entire 2009 season after tearing a muscle in his shoulder late in the preseason, was selected 13th overall by the Rams in the 2007 draft, and Washington only had to swap picks with St. Louis in the fifth and seventh rounds for him.

Although the Redskins in the past few days have repeatedly said they have no plans to trade defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth, the team's efforts to increase its depth at the position might be a sign Haynesworth could be moved before or during the three-day draft that begins Thursday.

Carriker, the Rams' top rookie performer during the '07 season, is the fifth defensive lineman the Redskins have acquired since free agency began. On Monday, the Redskins signed Howard Green to a one-year contract, and earlier they had signed Anthony Bryant, Maake Kemoeatu and Greg Peterson.

Haynesworth would welcome a trade, according to people with knowledge of the situation, because the coaching staff wants to use him as a nose tackle in its new 3-4 defense. At least one prominent Redskins veteran repeatedly reached out to Haynesworth in an attempt to persuade the Pro Bowler to report to the recent voluntary minicamp, but Haynesworth did not attend.

In text messages to a reporter, several players expressed frustration about facing so many questions regarding Haynesworth's absence during Sunday's media availability at Redskins Park. If Haynesworth remains with the team, he plans to attend only the mandatory minicamp June 16-18, and many in the organization are upset about his decision to stay away from the complex, according to people who work for the team.

Don't forget to defecate after leaving the trough and eat the defecation, go back to the trough and regurgitate that defecation you just ate. Eat. Repeat.

Great move with Carriker - the Rams have been such a dominant defense over the time he's been there - oh, wait. I hated Hasslett when they hired him, and I hate him even more now - brining in crappy players that used to play for him. Sounds like Zorn!

Haynesworth is a loser. He has talent but a loser's mentality. He doesn't realize that TEAMS and not individual players win championships.

Tennessee had this guy for 7 seasons and despite tearing things up for two years (contract years mind) I don't believe the Titans ever advanced in the playoffs.

Now that he has his money he is lazy and wants to do things on his own.

Sorry, Albert the NFL is not pro tennis or golf where you can opt out of events and just think about yourself.

I want his butt out of here ASAP.

This club will be just fine in the next couple of years without this whale.

What do you know another DC sports fan who wants a player traded or cut. Thats a suprise.

i'm sorry but are required to be gay and harp on the same issue 20-times a day to work at the Post. REally? if the dude is traded the dude is traded. if he does not come to VOLUNTARY workouts, that's his choice.

As a disgruntled Redskin fan it hit me a few years back, it is not my money. if Snyder wants to continue to sign players that don't fit into his desired mold, buy in 100% to the coach and system, it's Snyder's fault.

just like with Deon Sanders. Deon played Snyder. he played one season at a average level at best. Got his $8-10 million and walked. haynesworth, received how many millions in 14 games?

I believe that Shanahan knows what he is doing and that you redskin haters should just become cowfag fans and shut the he** up

so, because we get a first-round bust coming off the IR, another player coming off the IR and a few sometimes starters/journeymen/no-names means we are now able to move a former defensive player of the year that hasn't said anything about being unhappy playing in a 3-4?

you have a brain... use it...

We have no clue what is going to happen and all will be revealed to us in due time.

Fact remains that Shanahan's record is better than what we've had in decades. Period. He is more in tune with modern football than anyone we've had since Gibbs was at the height of his game in the 80's/90's.

If we must get rid of Fat Albert because he has demonstrated a propensity for whining and underperforming and only playing when he wants to play, let's cut him loose. If we lose money, well let's cut the insanity expecting Fat Arse to do more now than he did before.

I like the approach - bring in bodies - see which ones break during camp and preseason, and then we will have some left for regular season. Before we'd break the bodies and then have next to nothing worth spit for regular season.

Heck - if I can believe in Donovan McNabb after being so against him, ya'll need to get a life. Lighten up. The adults are running the team and they actually have experience in coaching!

This was kinda about nothing. Just space filler. We may not know anything about Fatboy until June at the earliest.

I know he's putting a dent in Buffets all across America right about now...Probably got Krispy Kreme on speed dial with his bloated gut and bloated wallet. Haynesworth can't walk to the mailbox without taking a knee, fat phukk...

Haynesworth as good as gone i say we take a 2nd and 3rd rounder for him and unload his lazy arce

Posted by: bert3 | April 20, 2010 7:25 PM | Report abuse

How many damn defensive linemen do you need in a 3-4 defense? Would they ever consider bringing in an offensive lineman? Would they ever consider signing some one who wasn't injured last year. WTF!!!!!

Posted by: 4merskinsfan | April 20, 2010 8:12 PM | Report abuse

Calm down man its just minicamp! im pretty sure all those d lineman not gone be there when the season start. I dont think there a o lineman out there worth getting other than flozell Tripp adams. If anyhting im thinking more Linebackers since its a 3-4. but im sure Shanny got a plan , well he better have a plan.
