Can Haynesworth redeem himself with Redskins?

Ah, Albert Haynesworth. He just keeps on giving. He's crossed Coach Mike Shanahan with his absence from voluntary workouts and now his teammates aren't thrilled with his work ethic, either.

"Common sucks, and his new movie coming out looks sucky too"

Common sucks?

Now there's point to debate.

Provide a short list of contemporary rappers worth listening to, so long as it's someone who can speak well enough to be understood.

I'll offer:

Drake

T.I.

Kanye West

B.O.B.

Pac Division

Lupe Fiasco

This man is going to take over hip-hop. Just when I thought the music industry had gone stale, I get word of B.O.B. and have since had my entire faith in this media market restored.

It started when I popped in his mixtape about a year ago, and I haven't looked back since. New album has been recycled on repeat for about a week straight over here.

A dude with 21 mil doesn't give a F about damage.

What?: he shows up, and K Golston or M Kemoteau will complain when he assumes a role with the starters?

Let me guess: Casey Rabach is going to pummel AH in Oklahoma drills and make him regret his actions.

Let's try a new subject as the Haynesworth dead horse has been beat so much it's ribs are all that's left to see.

Move on.

Moe: Common has always been too ( I know this sounds dumb) positive to me. I don't really care for positive hip hop and so forth. Drake irks the hell out of me too, his monotone robotic voice makes me want to smash his teeth out. Granted, there's not alot of good hip hop out there, I'll give you that. This is exactly the type of stuff Jim Zorn had to deal with.

I think fans will come to see the ex-coach and former QB were dealt a somewhat crappy hand here under Snyderatto, and handled it with class.

Even with all their credibility, Shanny and McNabb will have their work cut out for them this year. Something tells me Shanny said, "no dice" to working with Vinny--just like Marty S did.

Is Snyder going to be patient if there is an injury on the O-line, and McNabb looks exactly like JC17? Will he want to reverse field---YET AGAIN---if Shanny's offense takes a while to implement? These are the things that will be fascinating to watch over the next couple of years.

There's a chick named Nicki Minaj who sounds like a re-invented Lil Kim from "Hardcore" that the girls are going crazy over.

Overrated lesbian barbie doll. Nothing special about that chick at all. Just a pretty face for the youngins to gush over.

Although they wouldn't get anywhere with her -- the dudes anyway.

Haynesworth gets 6+ sacks and makes a couple big stops on 3rd/4th down, he'll be forgiven pretty quickly.

I was actually thinking the exact same thing when I made the comment about B.o.B's raw musical talent. He reminds me of Andre and Mos Def in versatility.

Quick Skins question: Did anybody get hurt this past weekend?

Posted by: dcsween | May 10, 2010 1:07 PM | Report abuse

This whole AH thing is all just made up stuff. When I see AH on the TV telling everyone he wants to be traded and will not play in a 3-4, I will believe it. Okay, so the guy is not in camp. What does that really tell us? Not much other than he did some post season analysis at the end of the last year and decided he wanted to be better conditioned, and took responsibility for doing that on his own. Oh, bad man! Making adult-like decisions to take care of his business on his own, rather than deal with whatever chaos might have been happening back at Redskins Park. Can we bash him some more for being a decisive adult? If he shows up out of shape and not ready, I'll be critical then. Okay, next up, he'd rather be playing aggressive football than eating up double teams. Just wow. That's why he came here, to wreack havoc, not play sumo wrestler. The team changed the concept and he has expressed his desire to do otherwise. Not one of us has ever disagreed with their boss regarding work assignments? Finally, falling behind on the playbook. I remember reading an article that states the coaches gave him the new book. Let's see what and where he is when he shows up. Until then, it's all invented anyway.

Posted by: murrayh | May 10, 2010 1:07 PM | Report abuse

Moe,

All you need to sell these days in rap ('cause 97% of what you hear ain't hip hop) is a hot beat, a catchy hook, and a dance that goes with said hot beat.

No talent needed at all.

And that what's sad. People became more concerned with dancing with what's actually being said on the track.

Pop/Rap ≠ Hip-Hop

Haynesworthless CAN repair his image with a SuperBowl win and some serious contributions, maybe slightly less blubbering and weeping.

The Question is: 'WILL HE'?

It's Anyone's guess really. Probably about the same odds as Elena Kagen landing the starting HB spot with the 'Skins for 2010.

I could be mis-remembering something here, but I believe I read somewhere that Shanny could have made 2 of the OTA’s mandatory, but only chose to make one…..if it was SUCH a big deal, why didn’t he use his option to make 2 of them mandatory?

RedskinRay1, that's a good look alright. the jersey maybe a bit to "fancied up", but i could live with it. you know, seems to me like the burgundy jersey always looks better than the white.

Difference is Favre didn't enter the season hated by Viking fans/media.

Plus Favre was put in the position to succeed in the eyes of casual observers.

To anyone that doesn't follow the game tightly, Haynesworth in a 3-4 (and unlikely to post tremendous numbers) will always be lazy, fat, overpaid, and underachieving, even if he dominates on level of a Vince Wilfork or Casey Hampton.

Murray-

Maybe, but I think not very likely. I will also hope for a good outcome, but I don't have a good feeling about it.

Ask me again when it's 3th and 1 against Dallas in the 4rd quarter and it's a close game.

you'll be seeing fat a$$ Albert on the sideline feigning yet another injury. Probably have to be carried off on a cart AGAIN with a hang nail or something.

Now his teammates are telling him he needs to get in there. What does that tell you? It tells me that maybe these guys do care and expect someone who has bitten off $32m in just over twelve months he needs to care.

People are acting like Haynesworth has been a TO or a Pacman Jones. He hasn't been badmouthing any of his teammates, the organization, or the coaches. He hasn't gotten arrested or been accused of anything illegal. He hasn't held out, he hasn't violated the terms of his contract in any way.

Yes, the Skins overpaid for him. But its not like he was one of their own players and he demanded a massive contract to stick around - they made an offer and he took it. Any one of us would have done the same.

Not only are these workouts voluntary, but there is an extra one because they have a new coach. Yes, it would be better if he was there, but as problems with a player go, this is really very minor. I worry a lot more about Larry Johnson's locker room presence than I do about Haynesworth's.

@CommieX

Riggo - Super Bowl Ring + Super Bowl MVP = Winner

Stompworth - 0 Ring + 0 MVP = Loser

Only $nyder could have guided this team to where it's at now. And the followers will be belly-aching by week 8 of this season and hessone will still be writing:

BOYCOTT $NYDER-DON'T YOU GET IT YET?
DON'T YOU GET IT YET? BOYCOTT $NYDER
BOYCOTT $NYDER-DON'T YOU GET IT YET?

Why would anyone think that he will be happy during the season?

He will never be happy at the NT position. Even if the Skins win, he will complain and when the losses come, HA...he will let it be known that he is not happy.

- and AH is on the sideline catching a breather, or walking v e r y s l o w l y from the locker room.

If he comes in in amazing shape, I have no issue with his missing of "voluntary workouts"... You know The Skins sold Albert a bill of goods that Greg Blache wouldn't live up to.. he wouldn't change his philosophy to match the strengths of Albert & let him attack... He's a disgruntled employee who is just taking his time until "mandatory".

What's the point of this poll? If he comes in great shape and team is winning all is forgiven. You know how fandom is.

@Hessone

You only continue to undercut your own argument. The fact that Riggins was a great Redskin after holding out for a season and being far more problematic than Haynesworth only serves to make my point: it would be a mistake to lose patience so soon, and AH could still make great contributions to the team.

Why don't you go read what Chris Cooley had to say about the Haynesworth situation today. Missing voluntary mini-camps is no big deal. This is just the Post trying to get web hits.

As long as AH shows up for the games and does his job, nobody will remember the voluntary workouts. Unless our D stinks. Which could be the case, since we're trying to go 3-4 with 4-3 personnel.

I swear, I will not care unless Haynesworth shows up fatter and more exhausted than last year, in which case I will refer to the team's W/L record before getting angry.

Jason Campbell came to all the voluntary workouts. Look where that got him.

I think if he takes off Romo's helmet while sacking him and then proceeds to sit on his face while letting out a big bellow from below, that would makes things all good in Redskins nation!

If AH would have come up in the 2010 draft, any team would have gladly used their 1st round pick for him. As a matter of fact, he would have been a Top-10 pick. Add to that the 30 million the Redskins already gave him (30 million saved!!!). What is the cash value of a pick? What round pick would 30 million buy? Another 1st round pick? An additional 2nd?

AH is currently the best D-lineman in the NFL, and he is still in his 20s. I think a trade of AH for a 1st round pick would be a bargain for any team! A 2nd and 3rd for him would be a robbery.
