Phillip Daniels clarifies his remarks about Albert Haynesworth

We're a bit late with this, but it's worth passing along. You'll recall last week, Redskins defensive end Phillip Daniels made some interesting comments about Albert Haynesworth, who's skipping the team's voluntary offseason activities. He made those comments to Jason Reid and also Mike Wise, who wrote a column that was strong on opinion but didn't hang everything on Daniels.

Later in the week, Daniels visited the team's official message board, ExtremeSkins.com, and said that when talking with reporters, players' words can get "twisted in so many ways."

Daniels didn't deny any specific quotes and there's nothing to gain by parsing words and going back and forth on this, but we did want to share it so you can see that Daniels apparently clarified the remarks he made to Reid and Wise and had some nice things to say about Haynesworth.

Here's Daniels' message board post, which was published Friday night. (And a hat-tip to Redskins blogger Matt Terl, who wrote more on this topic.

"Just wanted to drop in and say that I have read a lot of the comments on here and some of the fans on here really do believe everything that they read. Articles tend to leave things out and when you talk general stuff sometimes it comes out a different way. I am not upset with Albert at all, but the whole team would love for him to be here with us getting ready to win a championship. When a reporter asks a question, we answer it, but sometimes that answer is twisted in so many ways.

"None of the good stuff you say ever comes out in the article. They chop your words as they see fit and in the best way to sell papers or go public. Albert is a key part of the team, and he will be ready to go. Just wanted to clear things up a little for the people who believe everything that writers put out there. Like the old saying goes: Believe none of what you hear and only half of what you see."

It's also worth checking out Dan Steinberg on the D.C. Sports Bog. He quoted Daniels from an appearance last week on Lavar Arrington's show on 106.7 The Fan, in which Daniels had both good and bad to say about Haynesworth. I don't think it's twisting anyone's words to say that Daniels likes Haynesworth but wishes he were around Redskins Park right now.

"As teammates, we take him in with open arms," Daniels told Arrington and co-host Chad Dukes. "He's part of this team, he's one of our guys, he's a guy that plays hard and a guy that can help us win. We can't worry about the other side of things, how the coaches feel about the situation or how the media feel about the situation. We take him in with open arms.
"You know, he's a good dude. You be around him, you go out to lunch with him, you go out to eat with him, he's a great dude. Right now, being 4-12, coming off a 4-12 season, you just want your guys here and let's change this thing, that's all. And not to say it won't change if he comes late, but that's the only thing. The coaches and everybody been trying to negotiate to get him in here and show him the playbooks and do all the things they need to do. I just think he needs to show a little bit in return and get in here and help them out here, and help the team out, and learn this system and let's do it. I mean, I know he don't want to play in a 3-4, but it is what it is, you've got to. You're not going anywhere, so you've got to just come in and play."

My top 3 Intervention episodes
1. Music producer addicted to crack and girlfriend is a signer.
2. Stripper addicted to meth and alcohol, thinks she can talk to angels.
3. Brothers that do/deal heroin.

Any one involving alcoholics is also good. Eating disorder ones are worst.

Did Phillip Daniels also "clarify" that he was not at all concerned about the Skins picking up ANOTHER veteran DE who has played in a 3-4?

**Bamas beep'd me**

I hate all reality TV.

All of it. Cool when I was younger -- I used to watch "The Real World" (Heard the one they filmed in D.C. sucked big time, BTW). But as an adult I can't think of anything more dreadful than scripted TV with terrible actors/actresses.

I remember a few years back I was watching some reality TV show on BET with a homegirl of mine. It's theme was blind dates with people getting pranked. After about 10 minutes into the show I suggested that if she didn't change the channel I'd leave. The "acting" was THAT horrible.

Much rather watch a movie I never seen before -- ANY movie, go outside if it's day, or get on the PS3.

I know I must be on the only black man on the planet that doesn't watch reality TV. I get grilled for it ALL the time...

I think the 3-4 plays to Daniels' strengths. He's not as fast as he once was but he's the kind of strong that can occupy two blockers, stand them up, and give the linebackers time to do the slamming. He's also kind of savvy with dealing with his teammates. I don't for a second believe any of this is sinking into Fat Albert's head, but I think Daniels' just tells it like it is: "You're not going anywhere, so you've got to just come in and play." Word.

I've never seen a major newspaper more disliked by a team then the Washington Post.

Sorry, but PD is one of the nicest guys in the league, if he says he was misquoted and went on a fan message board to get his point across I'm going to believe him.

You can't get an exclusive interview or even a 1 on 1 with the new GM, Coach or QB. Hell, you only got dribs and drabs from the first round draft pick and now that Rock C. has been cut you won't even have your "unnamed players have said" line to work on.

This paper really needs some writers!!!

A few years ago I sort of taught myself how to read them, but as with everything if you don't practice, you forget.

But it's really kind of easy. You just gotta remember what letter corresponds with what letter and how to put them in order.

Actually reality TV is a myth. Sticking 16 people on an island and having them eat live insects and voting each other out in Tribal Council has nothing to do w/ reality. Nor does having 400 pound people working full time w/ personal trainers, hair stylists, makeup artist equate to reality. Reality TV would be a camera in some family's house. The husband is asleep on the couch w/ a bag of potato chips on his chest. The wife is in curlers while on the computer in some lame chat room. The kids are beating the crap out of each other. That would make perfect REALITY TV.

Tecmo SUPER Bowl is the game you really want.

Tecmo Bowl was the original with 12 teams and 4 plays.

Tecmo Super Bowl was the 1991-92 NFL season (Skins Super Bowl winning season) that had all 28 NFL teams with 8 plays each and stats.

Still one of the best games ever. I still play it frequently and I will challenge anyone here to a death match in it.

You have it easy then my friend! I think the only thing I can really get away with watching consistantly without my wife is football on Sundays. However, when the Redskins are done playing and I want to watch, for example, someone destroy the Cowpies, she can't understand why I want to watch football when the Redskins already played!!!! Stay single and free as long as you can Zeebs!

My G/F asked me, "Why are we watching the playoffs? The Redskins didn't even make it."

My response is,"Well why do we have to watch re-runs of Grey's Anatomy? We already know that McDreamy and Grey will break up because she can't committ and George will have sexual tension with Izzy."

It is funny that PD has been the most vocal(at least most quoted) about AH's absence. If Haynesworth had the dedication and comimment of Daniels he could possibly be the best D-lineman to ever play. But he takes his own approach and gets by on a freakish physicality. PD still trains as hard as anyone out there. Its just a shame.

Of course the drawback is that she has her womenly wits on how to get her way, but also understands the guys mentality and uses that to her advantage.

They just released Techmo Bowl Throwback via the xbox live arcade. As mentioned though, there is no players names/numbers. YOu can imput them in yourself if you have that kind of time.

Loved in the original techmo bowl how there were a few passing plays that were literally unstoppable. Cap Boso across the middle and the 49er's TE across the middle as well.

So much fun.

I think I can help you with this. Cork uses the computer at a public library and he only has a 30 minute turn. He races through all the posts and picks a few posters to p1ss on. Then his turn is up. He has to go to the back of the line and wait again. So, six hour lags are normal with Cork.

Hate to admit it, but Charlotte ain't the place to get great BBQ -- head to Lexington. There are lots of fans who like Charlotte-based Sticky Fingers barbecue, which is Memphis rather than Carolina style (tomato rather than vinegar). Lupie's Cafe is a little out of the way but a pretty good representation of NC style cookin'. For burgers, try the triple burgers at the Penguin Drive-In. Not as good as the Tune Inn in Southeast DC, but quite acceptable.

If you're looking to lower your BP, however, stay away from these joints.
