An Unrestricted Preview

With Clinton Portis experiencing whole-body hurt, Ladell Betts may have a bigger role in Sunday's game against Baltimore. Jason Reid previews the game. Thanks to the move to the night slot, the Capital Weather Gang sez it's going to be c-c-c-c-c-cold.

We didn't seem to handle the rain very well... let's see how we do in the cold!

I know I've said this before many games lately, and it's a shame to put even more pressure on a defense that is playing well, but I think the Redskins will need at least one defensive TD to win this game.

Am I wrong in thinking the Redskins Ravens rivalry is completely on the baltimore side of things?

Not at all. We have a history and 3 times as many Super Bowls. I actually like them unless they're playing us or Pittsburgh. They're the ones with all the venom for no good reason.

I was recently talking to a Baltimore fan, and man, that dude was bitter about us for some reason. Going on and on, saying some really bad things I don't care to repeat.

I was like "Dude, I got no beef with yall, I hate Dallas, Philly, and the Giants. I don't even think about yall all year until we play."

So because of that, I've started disliking the Ravens, just because of some of the remarks this guy was making.

And then I see them putting out a hit on Hines Ward and the Steelers' rookie RB, and I see how classless they are. Then I remember Ray Lewis leads the league in double homicides, and now I really have started disliking them.

It's true. I noticed the same thing with B-more fans, going back to when I lived down in the area. They're very bitter.

It's as if somehow they blame Jack Kent Cooke and Redskins fans for losing the Colts instead of the real culprit, Robert Irsay.

And by the way, I have always loved the duplicitous nature of Baltimore fans. To wit:

When their team was taken from them, they screamed holy hell.

But when they got a team via another city's loss (Cleveland), they had no problem with it.

They're friggin' hypocrites.

Yeah Truth, I've got a similar story: when we were in the playoffs in '05 vs. Seattle I was at a bar in Columbia, MD and a bunch of Raven fans were hating. No good reason, just hating. Their fans are worthless...

Betts better protect the football and block somebody if he's in pass pro. I think we see Heyer in this game if we fall behind. Shuisam will need to make his kicks too

I am looking around the internets as to why they hate us. And the reasons I can find are all mildly retarded. Serously if skins fans were to list the team rivals is Baltimore even in our top ten?

Posted by: alex35332 | December 4, 2008 10:03 AM | Report abuse

I never understood why people try to act like Skins vs Ravens is a Rivalry game...Honestly, who gives a damn about Baltimore? They aren't even in our conference, let alone our division. We only see them like once every four years. Playing the Ravens means about as much to us as playing Oakland.

And yet Baltimore fans hate us for no good reason. It's like the Oakland vs San Francisco rivalry...it's retarded.

I have an interesting perspective on this skins-purple browns thing. I live in Baltimore I was born not long after the colts where gone and low and behold I was raised a redskins fan. Growing up there were tons and tons of redskins fans here in bmore and actually there are still quite a few. However, do to the bandwagon mentality that most of their fans have as soon as the ravens went to the superbowl their fanbased increased. They hate us but they used to cheer for us its funny to me. When they went 13-3 the stadium was packed. Last year they were giving the tickets away. You think steelers fans took over fed ex you should have seen them at m&t bank stadium last year.
