Blog to Undergo Renovation

It's time for one of those moments. You know the ones where your parents tell you that this is going to be good for you, but it's going to hurt like a somethingorother in the interim? There's no way to sugarcoat this: You will be unable to comment on Redskins Insider from noon Tuesday until about 3 p.m. Wednesday. I know, I know. It hurts. Beer helps.

Tech support is doing something called a blog migration. We're getting a new version of Loseable Type (Oh, it's Christmas in August!!!) and this soon will lead us back to registration. I'm promised that the short-term pain will be worth it. I'm told that all the previous comments will migrate - I nearly gacked at the thought of dropping from 213,333 to 0 - so you can stop your printers now.

The Jasons and I will still be able to post, so keep checking out the blog for news. And, if you're looking for something to do in the interim, you can make some predictions.

Please know that we wouldn't do this if it weren't going to make things better. To compensate, may I suggest you blog your brains out until the system is taken down? Then you can fall into an exhausted sleep until it returns and maybe we can was the last to post on Loseable Type 1.0.

Confounded,

Well it looks like the regulars won. Guess it is good that I have a handle now.

Somewhere I think Barno is smiling.

will we have to regester again or use our old regestered names from before?

RB is currently a position of strength. The plan is to trade Betts, who is a proven every down back, for a 4th round pick, and suddenly you've made a position of strength, now a position of weakness, based on, as stated above, a 'few games'.

Posted by: Greg | August 4, 2008 4:11 PM

I don't really get this obsession with determining a player is only good solely based on his performing in the past. Let me guess, in 2006 Betts was no more than a situational guy before Portis got hurt, am I right? Then Portis got hurt, and BOOM, Betts magically became every-down caliber. Is this how you saw it? It must have been.

I personally wouldn't consider RB a "position of weakness" if Ladell were to be traded. Just as I didn't consider TE a "position of weakness" before drafting Fred Davis. You've got the guy who'll get most of the carries right in front of you - Clinton Portis. He's better in every aspect of the game. Betts may be a proven every-down back, but that doesn't do much good sitting on the bench. And just because Mason hasn't been given the opportunity to prove himself does NOT mean that he isn't NFL caliber.

Think of it this way: Blog pulled a hammie. It's getting scoped and needs a 27-hour recovery period.

Posted by: Mull It | August 4, 2008 4:49 PM | Report abuse

this sounds like something that Danny Snyder would do

I'll do better the next semester. I promise!

The Truth wonders aloud if he has a home? The Truth is spit on by the "regulars" and now The Truth's very own "anons" have insulted him and shunned The Truth.

A single tear forms in the corner of The Truth's eye.

How can you be anonymous when you consistently post with the same handle? I just don't get it.

Considering that Mason has no past carries to his name in a REAL REGULAR season NFL game, what are YOU basing it on??

No, trading Betts makes the #2 guy Rock, who is unproven, and makes Mason the #3 guy, who is COMPLETELY unproven.

So yeah, trading Betts makes a position of strength now, a position of weakness.

God bless Jim Zorn for reducing the number of "award winners" from week to week. I'm pretty sure Gibby gave them out to 50 of the 53 players, which made them REAL special...

Very encouraged by last night. Go Skins.

Because The Truth isn't always posting as The Truth, when someone else is impersonating The Truth.

Posted by: The Truth | August 4, 2008 4:55 PM | Report abuse

this sounds like something that Danny Snyder would do

Posted by: | August 4, 2008 4:49 PM

If it were Snyder, wouldn't there be a charge involved? Plus a subscription with a monthly fee? And a waiting list?

Posted by: Mull It | August 4, 2008 4:57 PM | Report abuse

Registration is going to suck. I have a confession to admit. I'm The Truth, RITCA, Nate, CL, RC, etrod, P.Diddy, Art Monk to the Sticks, The Gov and a few others I have forgotten.

JLa,

All those people you met at the Shabingus were paid actors. I can't let it go on anymore with all the signing in and out. More than likely the blog will die.

Good day.

The Truth, you asked on the last thread if the next preseason game is being televised nationally. It is being broadcast locally on WUSA-TV, but the NFL Network is picking up the broadcast live on Saturday night at 7pm EDT (4pm for us left-coasters). Usually, they broadcast one team's local crew for one half then switch over to the other team's crew for the second half.

Sorry I meant to say, I just started laughing out loud when i read n@ds guy's post. After Da Truef's confession of multiple personality disorder I didn't want everyone to think we were all crazy.

Posted by: Skinz | August 4, 2008 5:04 PM | Report abuse

well, registration will definitely reduce the number of posts on this blog. i'd say by at least 50%

"The Truth" just wants to feel wanted, ala Brett Favre.

Posted by: Anonymous | August 4, 2008 5:05 PM | Report abuse

RITCA - It doesn't take much to be part of the regulars. Just pick a name and post fairly frequently. The anon vs regulars was more about having someone pick a name so that some kind of history of information could be attached to that name. No one really cares what your name is in real life, unless you happen to make to one of the Shabingus(Shabingii?).

"No, trading Betts makes the #2 guy Rock, who is unproven, and makes Mason the #3 guy, who is COMPLETELY unproven.

Sorry, but Portis/Cartwright/Mason would not make RB a position of weakness.

"Considering that Mason has no past carries to his name in a REAL REGULAR season NFL game, what are YOU basing it on??"

Basing it on his performance in preseason games, and the fact that he was signed to the active roster at one point last year. Shows he's got talent, and at the least, he's at the top of the list of players fighting for the final few roster spots. You gotta crawl before you can walk. Mason has earned his opportunity. Whether or not it comes with the Skins is up to Vinny.

It just cracks me up that the Mason's and Brenner's of the world are held to a different standard then the Rinehart's of the world (NFL world). Neither has played a regular season game, yet Rinehart gets a pass for some reason. Makes no sense.

i remember when Blockbuster closed on Columbia Pike in Arlington. there was no warning, just a sign on the door one day that said "In order to serve you better, this location has closed."

so, bear with me if i'm jaundiced about promises of better service, but at least "Thanks for the heads up!"

Plus the coaches, unlike us, get to see these players in practice every day. They have a pretty good idea of who they want.

Might as well take advantage of the anonymous posting while I can: I'm glad Gibbs is gone. And that opinion was formed long before last night's meaningless victory. The guy was lost, unimaginative and frankly annoying. Good riddance.
