Orakpo, Golston, Doughty miss practice with injuries

By Rick Maese

The Redskins practiced Wednesday without three defensive starters who are nursing injuries: linebacker Brian Orakpo, defensive end Kedric Golston and safety Reed Doughty.

Redskins Coach Mike Shanahan said Golston, who was inactive for last Sunday's game because of a sore groin and elbow, would be a "long shot" for this weekend's game at Jacksonville. He said it's too early, though, to rule out Golston completely.

Orakpo was unable to finish the Cowboys' game because of injuries to his hamstring and groin. Shanahan said the hamstring is better but the groin is still bothering Orakpo. Shanahan said it was too soon to consider putting Orakpo on injured reserve.

Doughty, a veteran safety, suffered a concussion early in the game at Dallas. Shanahan said he hasn't been cleared to return to practice, but the coach was hopeful that Doughty would be OK for the Jaguars' game. Without Doughty, the Redskins have only two other healthy safeties: Kareem Moore and Macho Harris. Kevin Barnes played in Doughty's place against the Cowboys.

This is good. The Skins gots to keep trucking up the draft pick ordering. Some of the bottom dwellers have started to win which is also good, but even if the Pants win out and the Skins lose out they will still be above the Skins in the ordering with undoubtedly designs on Andy Luck.

It is much MUCH better to be a drunk athlete who kills a civilian with his car than a drunk civilian who kills an athlete--by about 50 years

Barns did good last week. He had a hard hit or two, he was in a safety spot, and from the POV of a safety it was average hits, but from the POV that he is a Corner, he mad DeAngelina look like a girl.

Depending on where we end up picking, we need to trade back 1 of our first 2 picks.

If its a top 10 pick, I say you keep that and trade the 2nd pick into a lat 2-3/2-4 or something like that. If somehow we fall back into a mid round pick, then we should trade our first for a 2-2 or a 1-2.

I think that Danny, Allen and the Shanny's will end up falling in love with Andrew Luck and will find a way to TRADE UP for him! After not moving up for Bradford I think that Shanny regrets it and will not hold back on trading up for LUCK!! After all he is the best qb in the last 15 years and the most pro ready QB who is YEARS AHEAD OF NEWTON! NO CHANCE THEY WASTE A PICK ON A FUTURE SPREAD BUST LIKE NEWTON! If can't make the trade for Luck, they take Mallet who is still years ahead of newton!! Book it!!
I don't think it would take that much to trade up for Luck tho if we have a top 6 pick! I could see us giving the panthers mcChump, fat al and maybe sleepy davis to move up !! Then the Panthers take AJ Green!
