Bridges Says Ankle Is Sprained (Updated)

Offensive lineman Jeremy Bridges told Rick maese he suffered a minor sprain of his ankle in today's intrasquad scrimmage. He says he isn't worried about it and, although the left ankle is wrapped, he said it was merely a precaution.

Offensive line coach Joe Bugel wasn't happy seeing Bridges go down, but he did say that he thinks Stephon Heyer will be full-speed tomorrow. He reiterated his concern about Randy Thomas.

From Miami's Jeff Darlington: Jason Taylor had a solid scrimmage today. Two sacks and a hurry. Might be a sign of things to come.

Trivia Question:

Name the redskin offensive linemen who's not hurt?

Take your time.

Bridges going down with something minor may be a great thing....maybe Vinny will break away from his radio show prep and realize we need a couple more competent olineman on the roster.

Damning to redskins' fans is that the fins' second round pick Pat White looks like he's going to be a player.

And how did the fins get that second round pick........

Maese: Only 1 of Skins' top 4 receivers saw action today. Zorn says he changed mind on MKelly, just to play it safe. Expects Kelly to play on Thurs...

I thought about it, but the commute from Ohio is a bit tough.

Was CDaniel's TD drive against first team D?

Posted by: frediefritz | August 8, 2009 3:59 PM | Report abuse

Chase Daniels is a very good quarterback.

The tough decision will come when the team has to decide if keeping Daniels and Brennan as back ups is preferable to cutting T Collins.

Me?: Take the sal cap hit and cut Collins.

Between Brennan and Daniels, the redskins might find a starting quarterback.

Boo on O line injuries. All injuries, for that matter, but especially our thin (and thinning, thanks to Weight Watcher Mike) O line.

What I want to see is Moss at Split end, Thomas at Flanker, and Kelly in the slot. Aldridge/Dorsey returning punts, Hackett #4 and Mitchell/Eloi/Hagens at #5.

What have you done for me lately Randle El? What have you EVER done for me Randle El????????

Mebbe. The odds on that are pretty long. Longer than any deep strike either can throw.

Posted by: BlackBagOps | August 8, 2009 4:35 PM | Report abuse

Brady was a 6th round pick. Cassel never played a down in college.

Stranger things than record setting Heisman finalists becoming NFL starters HAVE happened.

The college carreer and body type most reminiscent of Brennan and Daniel is Drew Brees. Guy set all the records at Purdue, but was deemed to small for the NFL.

Just sayin' is all.

But at teh end of the day... I'm a JC fan. He presents the best oportunity for the Redskins to go not only to, but once there deep into the playoffs.

Yeah but with him it was always going to be a Brees. Can't say that for the other two.

Right, because the odds of Brady, Cassel, Romo, Pennington, and Flacco were so strong.

NFL teams can't fool a Minister:

"I want to make it an issue," Jackson said Thursday in a telephone interview. "I want teams to explain why they have a quarterback who has less skills but is playing or at least is on the taxi squad, and a guy with more skills can't get into training camp. ...

"If he can't make the team, don't let him play. If he can, let him work. ...

"If the guy has paid his dues to the criminal justice system, paid his debt to the N.F.L. and shows remorse, what else does he need to do?" - Jesse Jackson

Yes Jessie, Mike Vick probably possess' more natural talent than Todd, Colt and Chase, but I think that would upset our QB even more after this past off-season. First some 'Skin Fans want him on our team, once he's here they gonna want him to start. Blogger on Blogger hate chat will increase; friends, allies and foes will align themselves; Now that a line has been drawn there are no ways to get along..

in that case jesse... Shut yer f'ing pie hole you shake down specialist thug mfer.

If i had no other reason to NOT want Mikey on my team, jesse flapping off is reason enough to NEVER get Vick.

FTR, i got no beef w/ Mike. Great athlete, but I just don't think he is that good as a QB, and certainly would suck trying to execute a WCO. Seems to me he would be a natural in Miami lining up next to Ronnie Brown in the backfield along with Chad Pennington.

Vick hasn't shown remorse yet, Jesse. At least not to the PETA and Humane Society.

Posted by: RedCherokee | August 8, 2009 5:23 PM | Report abuse

As far as PETA, Iwould tel lthose freaks to eat a damn veggie 'dog.

Posted by: SkinsfaninKaneohe | August 8, 2009 5:27 PM | Report abuse

Vick would be an absolutely horrible QB, just like he was in Atlanta. When he was the QB there people blamed the WRs for not catching his passes. Matt Ryan came in and him and his WRs looked like All-Pros on occasion last year.

If Vick wants to make it back to the NFL he should convert into a RB. As a QB he's just not good enough.

As for Bridges and Thomas...this is a sign of things to come. Bridges will be okay in a few days (I hope) but it illustrates how the Skins have zero depth for a unit that's aging.

I have no doubt that by mid-season Portis will be complaining and Campbell's stats will stink or he'll already be out for the year because of an injury sustained on a sack.

Vick possesses more foot speed than Todd, Colt and Chase. Talent? That's debatable. Vick wasn't a good passer in his first go-around in the NFL and he had trouble reading defenses. It was one read and run with him. That will NOT work in a West Coast Offense.

Vick simply cannot play QB in the NFL. We've seen that already. Everybody blamed his WRs the first time but after Matt Ryan came in they all looked pretty good. Which should lead any reasonable person to conclude the reason the ATL WRs looked so bad before was Vick.

The couple of games I saw Chase play in last year, he scored a bunch of points (granted , Big 12), but particularly was strong in the RED ZONE (also known as the Forbidden Zone lately)..His and Colt's scrambling abilities might be necessary given the damage along the front wall ( like Robin Williams describing Theismann's running ability, "I WAS RUNNIN' FOR MY LIFE!!" ..might say something about Buges and the Hogs in those days that we took for granted)..

Anyone know if he'd consider a "slash" role? Would love to see the speed on the field and it wouldn't f*** with Campbell's head.
