Bynum's knee is troublesome, but I think Kobe will obviously be very motivated and ready, and enough others will be shamed into/motivated enough/simply better because they're home to take game 6

Chief, ain't no amount of shame, motivation, or being better is gonna fix that knee at this point.

1 rebound in the last game. Grimacing after landing on it. I say he's done early tonight, and that will completely change the outcome of the game.

I've always maintained that there's no Stern-driven ref conspiracy in the NBA. I think the guy that went to prison (Tim Donough??) is full of SJK. Stern would have to be crazy to perpetuate such a fraud. I think they just suck more than in most other pro sports and are way too easily influenced by the crowd and their personal dislikes and grudges (hello, Joey Crawford). They've certainly been bad all the way around this finals.

I shouldn't have called you a loser - sorry about that. But the rest of what I wrote stands. When it comes down to it, the people who hate on Kobe like this are just jealous that he's not on their team and think it's unfair that arguably the winningest franchise in NBA history ended up with yet another all time great. I can't even describe how little I care whether he's imitating someone from the past (as if no other player has ever done that....) or not with some gesture or routine. It's utterly irrelevant to the discussion of his on-the-court performance and success.

Statisically, the Lakers got hammered by the refs the entire playoffs. They had the worst +/- ratio of fouls at home/vs away than any other team in the playoffs up through the conference finals, by alot (and I can link you to the data if you really want) and got fewer calls overall than any other team in the playoffs. You can't seriously tell me that there's a conspiracy since the Lakers are getting more foul calls than the Celtics, considering how physical the Celtics play D...they should be getting hit way more than they do, frankly, and they should be getting called for all of those moving screens that they get away with.

There's certainly no pro-Laker ref conspiracy. As far as 2002, granted, it was alot of foul calls in that game 7, and I'd have to go back and watch the game again since it's been so long, but my recollection is that the Lakers just got really hot and the bad guys got really, really cold at the right time.

Check all-time winning %, total number of games won, and total finals appearances. I'll certainly acknowledg the 15 vs. 17 titles, but that's why I said "arguably". The Lakers have been way more consistent than the Celtics over the years. Without the dominance in the 60's you have a much less successful franchise. The Lakers have only missed the playoffs a handful of times in their entire history, and the Celtics had a long stretch of suckitude.

Almost sure this was the same year and series (2002 WCF) Vlade Divac made flopping prevalent in the NBA.

Vlade played for the Kings, by the way...

"The Kobe is a poser" or "Kobe copies Jordan" fuel the Kobe haters love to chug on never gets old.

The dude has more than enough room to make his own mark in the NBA (and has most definitely made it) but somehow is obsessed with Micheal Jordan and imitating him at every chance he gets.

He laughs like him.
He jumps in the air like him
He celebrates like him.

So yeah, there you have it. Kobe wants to be Jordan... THERE is the evidence!

I'm not jealous. I don't have an NBA team. I stopped watching the NBA regularly after the strike and the 2002 debacle. I tune in to watch the finals and an occasional game here/there.

Kobe's a great player. But I don't like him. Mostly because I think he's a phony. He cares about being great but he also cares WAY too much about looking great doing it - moreso than any other superstar I can remember. And as you can see - I think most of his "looking great" involves him trying to look like MJ in his play and his mannerisms.

His play is not as big a deal to me as the mannerisms. If you're gonna model your play after somebody, might as well be Mike. Its the other stuff that bugs me more.

No to mention he's constantly b!tching to refs...him and Shaq fought like little girls and broke up a potential dynasty...he's not a great teammate, he doesn't make players around him better. Phil doesn't like him. The rape business certainly didn't help. Plus, while he's an all-time talent, I'm still waiting for him to put on one of those transcendental playoff performances that make players legendary.

Maybe it happens tonight or Thursday.

My point is that, while the Celtics inarguably have won more titles regardless of what happens this year, most of the other franchise-success statistics favor the Lakers. It is just as inarguable that the Lakers have won more games than any other franchise, for example. I don't expect you to agree with me on this argument, of course.

Hmmm. Editors linking to blogs... linking to other people's coverage of events that the Redskin Insiders team of writers might and should have written about in their own right... passed off under misleading headlines and other foggy obscurities... and through it all, it may be the most newsworthy posting of the whole damn week thus far. From a journalistic standpoint, there's probably something to fuss about here, but then again, why bother? It’s not as if anyone appears to give a damn about it or anything.

Sort of like the Redskins team effort of last season.

I am pleased to hear the GM is saying the team will be busting their butts in the upcoming season... which would certainly be a welcome change from the last two-plus campaigns under the widely discredited Vinny Bugeyes, El Zoron, the Moron, Jason the Clueless, et al. But until I actually see holdovers and other disappointments like CP26, AH92 and CR22 actually out there on the field and putting in all on the line, I’ll reserve judgment on what the new season may bring.

Personally, I would just like to see the Redskins still playing some meaningful football in December. Last season's prime time embarrassments against the Cowgurlz and Gnats -- featuring such unforgivable and unforgettable moments as the swinging gate play (called twice!) and Sherman the Bingo Caller working his unseen influence from the skyboxes -- all before apathetic stadiums long emptied of arrogantly abused and embarrassed fans -- must certainly be rated among the worst moments in Redskins team history -- but still all too typical of our experience to date with Dan the Little Man.

Anything at all this season that ain’t that bad must and will be an improvement. But only time will tell if it’s worth caring about.

tuned into a bit of the NBA playoffs. Saw the call where the refs go to instant replay. The replay clearly shows the ball going off Odom(?) -- because he was clearly fouled by Rondo(?).

So the refs ignore the clear foul and award the ball to Boston. Which is exactly the wrong call. I'm laughing, its like replay was used to make sure they get the call WRONG!!

Which is one of the reasons, I don't watch NBA much.

b.) Micheal Joseph Jackson

c.) Prince Rogers Nelson

d.) Earth, Wind and Fire

e.) Rick James
