Campbell Bruised Knee

Walked off looking good and waved to crowd. Early indication is bruised knee and he will get more tets.
Looks very good right now, though. Dodged a bad one, it appears.
Campbell is on the sidelines now, with ice on his knee.

Also, Doughty will be able to play now after being cleared from his eye problem.

collins is doing just fine for preseason

Posted by: littery | August 18, 2007 8:50 PM | Report abuse

Whew.

Posted by: P Diddy | August 18, 2007 8:50 PM | Report abuse

My stomach is still in knots - good grief!

JC on sideline with ice on knee.

Posted by: Cindy | August 18, 2007 8:52 PM | Report abuse

JC needs game exp...u can't baby him

Posted by: chris larry | August 18, 2007 8:52 PM | Report abuse

OK send Brunell out the door. Sorry Lisa but Collins seems to be playing well.

Posted by: jm220 | August 18, 2007 8:52 PM | Report abuse

littery,

I was thinking the same thing. I'd hate to see JC's season end before it can even begin fooling w/ them and this makeshift line. It looks better than it was, but it's not like the end of last season's by any stretch of the imagination.

JC needs game exp...u can't baby him

Posted by: chris larry | August 18, 2007 08:52 PM

When I see you again you will get the hammer CL. Hell with that keep him safe until the season starts.

Posted by: jm220 | August 18, 2007 8:53 PM | Report abuse

I like our defense a lot.

Can I breathe now?

Posted by: calebt17 | August 18, 2007 8:54 PM | Report abuse

How come Betts only gets 6 carries? It's like they are protecting a starter or something.

Posted by: SCSkinsFan | August 18, 2007 8:54 PM | Report abuse

I am not saying put him back in now...but its not like they were gonna hold him out of games....

Posted by: chris larry | August 18, 2007 8:54 PM | Report abuse

Pitt is doing a lot of blitzing. The punter seems to be putting his leg into his kicks.

Posted by: jm220 | August 18, 2007 8:54 PM | Report abuse

Preseason doesn't count.

Posted by: calebt17 | August 18, 2007 8:55 PM | Report abuse

Watching Collins is odd. I mean, he knows where the ball should go and everything. But, 1) he looks like a sitting duck and 2) his arm looks hella weak. Even 10 yrd passes look like they're barely getting anywhere near the intended receiver.

Posted by: JustMe | August 18, 2007 8:55 PM | Report abuse

Is it really a Bruised Knee? You sure they're not just euphemising for ACL? Please? Please tell me President Gibbs isn't gazing dreamily at #8's flaccid left arm. Maybe this will open up some playing time for Carson's brother (at least for tonight).

Speaking of Jordan Palmer, will he end up on the practice squad, or would he not clear waivers?

Posted by: RMilot | August 18, 2007 8:56 PM | Report abuse

i'm not saying he doesn't need the xp. i'm saying keep him out until the line is in sync. and hopefully that'll be before the 4th preseason game...

just saying...

wow LL!!

Posted by: littery | August 18, 2007 8:56 PM | Report abuse

Andre Carter just chased Big Ben out of the pocket, when he was met by Springs and Rocky. The D is looking real good.

Carter just got Willie Parker after L2 took out Parker's blocker. Nice.

Posted by: JustMe | August 18, 2007 8:57 PM | Report abuse

ROCKY MAC!

Posted by: chris larry | August 18, 2007 8:57 PM | Report abuse

Fairly sure that Palmer would clear waivers. He's a 7th round pick, right? Any team that really wanted him would have drafted him and had him in camp to learn their offense.

Posted by: P Diddy | August 18, 2007 8:57 PM | Report abuse

they get there but it takes a day or two longer than if JC was throwing them passes...

Posted by: littery | August 18, 2007 8:58 PM | Report abuse

L2 is awesome. I love watching our defense fly around. This is how it should be.

Posted by: calebt17 | August 18, 2007 8:58 PM | Report abuse

Man the D seems to be balling. Justme/Cyn Cyty are they playing as good as it sounds? If so, let's hope double G doesn't let his damn ego get in the way. 10-6 baby

Posted by: jm220 | August 18, 2007 8:59 PM | Report abuse

Hey littery! Did you catch of glimpse of Mr. YES SIR in the stands??? LMGO He had on the beat up Campbell jersey that he had on the day I went to camp. That thing was abused so badly, I thought it was an old Doug Williams jersey until I saw the back of it. LOL

Posted by: JustMe | August 18, 2007 8:59 PM | Report abuse

How long is a player out with a bruised knee? Is Campbell back next week? 2 weeks?

Posted by: SCSkinsFan | August 18, 2007 8:59 PM | Report abuse

Espy not distinguishing himself on punt returns.........

Posted by: chris larry | August 18, 2007 9:00 PM | Report abuse

Anyone watch the Jets game on Fox last night? Some dude kept yelling, "Hey Pete Kendall! Hey Pete Kendall!" The field mics kept picking it up and I wanted nothing more than to strangle this dude.

Posted by: P Diddy | August 18, 2007 9:00 PM | Report abuse

jm220,

Yes, they are. The D looks great. I think Pitt has had 3 straight "3 and outs." They're playing with energy, and they're playing with each other rather than like a bunch of separate components out on the field. I'm really liking what I'm seeing.

Posted by: JustMe | August 18, 2007 9:01 PM | Report abuse

The entire team looks much better. The defense does indeed look sharp. Maybe they don't need a real rush...This just might work.
The offense looks much sharper, too. If I were the coach, I'd keep JC out until Sept. 9, focus on upgrading his protection somehow.

Posted by: Cindy | August 18, 2007 9:01 PM | Report abuse

jm220 good to see you taking up the mantle.

10-6 baby!

Posted by: LH | August 18, 2007 9:02 PM | Report abuse

Bram just said that everything looks good with JC knee and it just a bruise. Please Please be true.

Posted by: jm220 | August 18, 2007 9:02 PM | Report abuse

Looks like no ligament damage. I would guess they hold him out next week and give Brunell one last shot to lead the team.

Posted by: chris larry | August 18, 2007 9:02 PM | Report abuse

It would be a real indictment of the preseason and its complete uselessness if both Portis and Campbell didn't play until September 9th.

Posted by: P Diddy | August 18, 2007 9:03 PM | Report abuse

I do hafta say that the Redskins haven't been throwing deep down the field...still screens and such.

Posted by: Cindy | August 18, 2007 9:03 PM | Report abuse

The depth problem is at QB.

Posted by: LH | August 18, 2007 9:04 PM | Report abuse

They should sit Campbell till the start of the season unless he really feels up to it. I might play JC one qtr in the final preseason game. That's it.

Posted by: calebt17 | August 18, 2007 9:04 PM | Report abuse

Man it seems that Cooley is have a beast of a game.

Posted by: jm220 | August 18, 2007 9:04 PM | Report abuse

Dinking and dunking ... blech.

Posted by: SCSkinsFan | August 18, 2007 9:05 PM | Report abuse

With no Moss no deep routes....

Posted by: chris larry | August 18, 2007 9:05 PM | Report abuse

Collins just can't move at all. Ryan Clark just sacked him. He just stands in the same spot and looks for a receiver w/ no regard for the defensive players closing in on him. LMGO He's fine to be the Crash Test Dummy in preseason, but I hope to never have to see him take a regular season snap.

Posted by: JustMe | August 18, 2007 9:05 PM | Report abuse

OK...Cooley to the bench please....

Posted by: chris larry | August 18, 2007 9:06 PM | Report abuse

Gus Frerotte is in the game in St. Louis...

Posted by: P Diddy | August 18, 2007 9:07 PM | Report abuse

OK time to pull the starters. It seem all is playing well don't need another one going down.

Posted by: jm220 | August 18, 2007 9:08 PM | Report abuse

Marcus Washington going off the field gingerly...might have had the air knocked out of him.

Posted by: Cindy | August 18, 2007 9:08 PM | Report abuse

Washington just walked off the field holding his right hand.

Posted by: calebt17 | August 18, 2007 9:09 PM | Report abuse

Surprised Big Ben still in

Posted by: chris larry | August 18, 2007 9:09 PM | Report abuse

Damn Rocky Mac on another play.

Posted by: jm220 | August 18, 2007 9:09 PM | Report abuse

I do hafta say that the Redskins haven't been throwing deep down the field...still screens and such.

Posted by: Cindy | August 18, 2007 09:03 PM

If they grafted Collins' right arm onto Brunell's left arm, could their combined might even get the ball 40 yards downfield in a reasonably straight line?

Posted by: RMilot | August 18, 2007 9:09 PM | Report abuse

They're saying dislocated elbow for Marcus Washington???

Posted by: Cindy | August 18, 2007 9:10 PM | Report abuse

I am with the Viscount.....PRE SEASON IS JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!

And people say the players are greedy?

F the owners!!!!!!

this blog is keeping me updated nearly play by play in san francisco.

sounds like we dodged a bullet!

i love hearing that the D is flying around.

they need to get NASTY this year.

Posted by: thedeaner | August 18, 2007 9:13 PM | Report abuse

Quick check of The Google says that a dislocated elbow is an 8 week injury.

New post from Jasno...

Posted by: Cindy | August 18, 2007 9:14 PM | Report abuse

Campbell was hit flush on the left knee by Steelers defensive end Brett Keisel, who beat rookie free agent left tackle Stephon Heyer and stumbled as he kept up his pursuit. -Associated Press

(Lies, darn lies, that was a dirty hit. The guy was wrong and he knew it, trying to end somebody's career in the pre-season like that).
