Campbell hurt as Redskins trail 24-0 at halftime
There was no more fitting a way for the Redskins to end an extremely ugly half of football than with perhaps the ugliest play of all: an interception on a less-than-impressive fake field goal attempt in which punter Hunter Smith was crushed as he threw into a crowd of Giants defenders.
The first quarter was bad for the Redskins and it did not get any better in the second, as Washington's offense continued to struggle while the defense did little to stop the Giants.
It didn't take long in the second quarter for the Giants to extend the lead, as they needed just two plays, both Ahmad Bradshaw runs, to extend the lead to 14-0 on the running back's four-yard touchdown run, his second score of the game.
Washington again failed to move the ball on just its second drive of the game. The first play of the drive, a pass to Devin Thomas, was wiped out for illegal motion and the Redskins managed just seven yards after that and punted again.
New York took over on its own 47 and again swiftly moved down the field, appearing ready to extend the lead with a third touchdown on its third drive before stalling. Eli Manning threw an incompletion that was nearly intercepted by Fred Smoot, and Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth entered the game and immediately made an impact.
The All-Pro stuffed a Brandon Jacobs run, and then sacked Manning for a 10-yard loss on the next play to force the Giants to settle for a 38-yard Lawrence Tynes field goal and a 17-0 lead.
The Redskins again managed to move only backwards on their next drive, with Jason Campbell getting crushed on a Jonathan Goff sack for a loss of six yards and then missing Devin Thomas down the right sideline on third and 15 for another punt.
New York, however, again had no problems moving the ball. This time it took just four plays and 2 minutes and 5 seconds for the Giants to find the end zone, with the key play a 45-yard pass to Hakeem Nicks followed by a six-yard touchdown pass to Steve Smith that extended the lead to 24-0 before Washington had even picked up a first down.
The Redskins showed little life (yet again) on their next drive, though they finally picked up a first down on Campbell's 16-yard scramble on third and 12. That would be the only major positive play, however, as an intentional grounding would kill that drive and force yet another punt.
The Redskins defense finally forced a three and out and the Giants punted for the first time all game with 1 minute, 10 second left in the first half.
Taking over at its own 35-yard line, the Redskins lost Campbell on the first play of the drive when he was sacked yet again and left with a sprained shoulder. Back-up Todd Collins entered and threw incomplete on his first attempt before finding Santana Moss for a 47-yard gain down the right sideline.
Two consecutive incompletions and a delay of game penalty killed the drive and the fake field goal attempt was ineffective, as Smith threw into a group of Giants defenders and was intercepted by Bruce Johnson to end the half with the Redskins trailing 24-0.

You know why this is the low point of the season? Because it's MNF. Here in Texas, we didn't see Atlanta or Detroit. This, we see. And so does the nation. And so does every Cowflop fan in a 500 mile radius.

I love the skins, but the truth is you reap what you sow. Zorn may be an awful coach, but the treatment by the owner has been satanic at best. You simply don't treat people like he has been treated. even the fat, greasy haired, buger eater in the corner deserves more dignity than Snyder et. al have shown Zorn. Fine, he is going to be fired....but do you really have to leak all the discussions with Shanny into the press with three games left in the season. That wasn't the press's doing....it was pure Snyder PR whisperings.
Riggins was right, Snyder is a low life puny little punk who took many, many , many beatings as a child. I am willing to bet he was a cutter.....too bad he missed an artery, because unfortunately we are stuck his cold, dark, shadowless, evil for the next 2 million years!

Rushing three and dropping back 8 and the receiver is wide open. I hope the new coach can find a decent Def Coord, because the current one has to go. The giants are playing the backups to backups in their secondary and are covering better. Glad the current coach doesn't think it is a good idea to pressure Manning.

This should be no surprise to Allen, I am sure he has been keeping up with the team this year. I guess what he needs to figure out before the end of the season is whether the Redskins are closer to the team that played the last three weeks or the one playing tonight and the beginning of the season.

This is exactly what Bruce Allen needed to see. A team with no talent on the O-line, and a d-coordinator that is more conservative than his father (hardy-har-har).
It's evident Zorn has to go (fake FG try after time-out cemented the decision), O-line has to be 80% revamped (only dockery is NFL worthy), new D-coordinator that has a pair and is willing to play tight coverage, and someone who has a talent in play-calling brought in.
We need a change in ATTITUDE around here, and that starts from the bottom-up.
We need a hard-nosed coach that knows how to fire his team up for division games, most of all.

The irony in all of this is that it took the backup QB to come in to show JC off, for the offense to have a pulse. Unfortunately too little too late, as not even the somewhat reliable D is able to stop these Giants.
TOO LITTLE TOO LATE! Just like in the 1st game against these very same Giants this season.

No. Sorry. We have better candidates:
1. Declining the penalty (DET)
2. Going for it on 4th Down up 8 (CAR)
3. And my personal favorite: NOT going for it down 4 with 2:0something on the clock and choosing to punt...the ball sailing in the air to the 50 yard line as the 2 minute warning expired and the timeout wasted on the change possession. Leaving us to waste our timeouts to get right back to where we started from, with no timeouts; in the best case scenario (which didn't play out) (KC)
The man is retarded. 50% of us could do better with a Madden playbook.

Sadly, and this is my number one issue with Jim Zorn, he doesn't show any emotions at all. That penalty on Haynesworth for throwing a punch after a couple of Giants players throw more than a few punches, should have been the perfect opportunity for a coach who is getting fired anyway to show that he does indeed care and will do anything to protect his players and to back them up.
He could have learned a lesson or two from the HC of Atlanta.

Its also why JC is 211th of 214 NFL QBs in the history of the NFL with 900 or more pass attempts, in Red zone TD percentage.
Collins threw a 47 yard pass completion to Moss in only his second pass with the SAME OLINE!!!

I think Snyder wants to be successful, but the way he does things leads to being unsuccessful. He has no patience for one and he has not class in relating to others for another.
He should not be running a football organization because he has shown he is not good at it. He should let a bona fide GM make all or most of the football decisions for him. Whether Allen will be that GM remains to be seen.
I'm out of here.

Blame the coaches! Apparently the coaches didn't prepare good enough against a well coached and motivated team who is vying for a playoff spot. This is a very emabarassing lost especially watching the Redskins struggles to make plays. Give credit to the Giants, they deserved the win. Its another disappointing and tumultuous season under the ownership of Dan Snyder. Hope Bruce Allen can fix this big mess. Happy holidays to all!
