Coach Joe Still In Town
While Coach Joe made it clear that he's bound for Charlotte to be back with his family, his work here is not complete.
Gibbs has spent the day at Redskins Park, meeting with owner Daniel Snyder for several hours. Gibbs's office remains intact here for now and it's likely he'll be around all next week too and possibly a day or two a week beyond that until the transition is over. He and Snyder were talking about possible candidates I am told and getting the process started and making sure they are up to date on all regulations for when you can contact a coach already under contracts, etc. All the minutia. But this party hasn't even started yet.
Obviously, Snyder respects Gibbs's opinion immensely. Gibbs is also meeting with some coaches, and has had private conversations with several players who continue to stroll through here every once in a while.

I expect Joe to give his endorsment to Flapjacks. He will be quoted saying, "look at those tupperwares bounce, its like two for the price of one."

Here's a big wide receiver I'd like to see in the burgundy and gold:

Arrington will be a 4th-6th I imagine he has some hands, Ive watched him for a few years. Manningham is a late 1st to 2nd round pick, he is real good when he gets the ball quick but undersized, can jump with the best of them though,

Seems like the excitement from the threads might be waning a little ... maybe an opportunity for a shower.

Does Barno remind anyone else of parody personality Stephen Colbert?

chrislarry,
Actually yes, Colbert is an idiot too. Pointing out what everyone else does wrong is the only thing that funny baby.... and saying it in a fake monotone robot voice, PRICELESS.

Don't draft a WR with a high pick! First off we suck at it (Westbrook, Gradner, Jacobs.....HOWARD!) secondly everybody sucks at it....look at the best WR's in the league very few were 1st round picks, most were 3rd or worse. We need to go DLine, LB, Safety, Oline in the draft. We can sign a veteran WR that we'll get more out of. Look at last year's WR's Calvin Johnson and Dwayne Bowe were really the only ones that had a decent season. If Arrington is there in the 3rd or 4th maybe you take a shot, but no way should we waste a 1st or 2nd on a WR.

Marcus Monk
Monk, 6-6, 217 pounds, led the Razorbacks with 50 receptions for 962 yards and a school single-season record 11 touchdowns this year. His career stats include 122 receptions for 2, 007 yards and a school-record 24 touchdowns.
A guy I would LOVE to see in burgundy and gold... He won't be coming out till next year though

Manningham may be good, but he is yet another SHORT receiver. Not worth wasting a high pick on (nor is any wide receiver this year). Arrington might be worth a shot if he drops into the fifth round.
There are lots of tall fast wide receivers coming out this year. A late-round pick will work just fine.

This sudden head coach vacancy and all the Jasno postage are an endless line of coke stretched out beyond the horizon. Just look at this hamster frenzy! Holy moley. Gee whiz. Golly.
I miss Coach Joe. Oh wait, he's still here. I'm ready to miss Coach Joe.

zjfr2,
Dlinemen are just as big a longshot to make it as a WR, maybe even more so.
example: the eagles past 7 drafts.

Tafka: Definately Arrington. Meant to post his bio.

sam3 and zjfr2, players in the draft in the draft are big long shots to make the team, so we should de-value the draft.
Wait, scratch that. I think there is a farstriker numeric code for "F de-valuing the draft" ... and I fear an Error Code 440.

I think there is a strong case to be made for safeties who have not been busts when picked in the first round. [Unless you count busted teeth.]

Anthony Mix
6-5
235lbs
And didn't Jasno say that we have him contracted for the next 3 years?
Add a healthy Mike Espy to the mix (no pun intended) and our WR unit looks okay IMO.

I agree late round pick for a bigger wr. No need to get a 1st round wr, he would never see the field anyway.

okay now that it's obvious that the new coach will be gregg williams. let's make a list of rooney rule candidates:
1. denny green (never turned down a free dinner)
2. mike singleterry
3. terry robinsky (comin home again)
4. gregg blache (don't got to pay for the plane ticket and per diem)

Interesting trivia on drafting and draft picks:
Not one of the Patriots' 2007 draft picks made the team.

dc,
no doubt, I think the draft is very valuable. I just think drafting a dlineman in the first is pretty risky. like i said, look at the eagles. they have 2 firstrounders in the past 5 years that don't even play football anymore.

Looking back, I guess it was unfair of us fans to expect everything to be rosy and win the Lombardy trophy every year, I mean, I remember where I was when they announced he was coming back! I thought Christmas morning had come again, and all would be right with the world.
Well, now as I look at it, the world is an imperfect place, and although he didn't get done what we all thought and hoped he would, he did do the best job that he could. Thanks Coach, for at least bringing a little respect back around here.

etrod, ditto (or DE ... but CB is more pressing given Q about Springs and reality of Rogers).
AP All Pro roster (different from Pro Bowl) is up and only Skin to make it was Sean Taylor ... on second team. First teamers were Ed Reed and Bob Sanders, who had the better luck to play for the whole season. Still, not too shabby to share the honor with Polamalu and Darren Sharper.

Thinking about it for a second, it makes more sense that they would go for a corner in the first round of FREE AGENCY (for the same reasons a body would think they'd go for one in the first round of the draft), because free agency starts well before the draft. Maybe too much of a risk to wait that long at that position.

Rooney rule candidates. I still think that we should break the mold by interviewing a Native American, rather than an African American. It's about time we have a Native American Head Coach in the NFL, and the Redskins are the best team for it. Now, who are some likely candidates?

Also, though he's not a Native American, I think Ron Rivera (LB coach/Chargers, formerly DC/Bears) would count for the Rooney Rule. The Owner should have him in for a chat about football regardless.
