Coughlin Scoffs at Woodson's Value

That Tom Coughlin is one suspicious guy. According to Mike Garofolo of the Newark Star-Ledger, Coughlin was asked Monday about the possibility that Andre Woodson would divulge important info about his former team, the New York Giants, to his new team, the Washington Redskins ahead of the teams' season opener Sunday.

"You mean, 'Why is he in Washington right now?' " the coach said with a laugh. "It's pretty obvious why he's in Washington. There's no question that's what's going on. We'll see what transpires. It works both ways a little bit."

Both ways? Oh, they do have Antonio Pierce. And signed Nehemiah Broughton to their practice squad.

"I've been a part of it. I've seen it done," Coughlin said with a smile. "The guy doesn't get in the door two seconds and he's in a classroom getting grilled. But not of late [has Coughlin done it]."

Coughlin -- that kidder -- cracked that everything Woodson was taught was a decoy or a red herring or a pickled herring or something.

"It was all out there so that Andre would take it with him," he said.

Woodson can't pass protect, so it doesn't really matter. Sunday's game will be won in the trenches.

or as Tom is thinking "Oh crap, I didn't think they would do that"

Yeah, right COUGHLIN. That said, I believe the 'SKINS need all the help they can get. I saw the first quarter of the G-men against the PATS. The offensive line shredded the d-line of N.E. like swiss cheese. The first unit is ready for bear, like the hogs of old.

Fox Movie Channel has the classics, "Our Man Flint" and "In Like Flint" on back to back.

Love 60's James Coburn. He and Steve McQueen were the coolest dudes in the movies.

Giants don't stand a chance next Sunday!

Coach Zorn and Blache,

Please let us unleash hell on our opponents this year. Can we change "hip hip hooray" to "unleash he;;"? before every series, have the players go unleeeeeeeeash helllllllll!!

Well enough with the technical details! What I mean is to unleash AH and RAK with no fear! Let's make Eli wet his pants by the end of first quarter

a little peaceful violence, of course!

turnovers and sacks, turnovers and sack,,,repeat after me Redskins D,.....turnovers and sacks

OK, a little, coverage here, a little coverage there, but mainly go for the ball, make them fumble after that 18 yard catch, or after that 7 yard run.......go for the ball guys, go for the balls, I mean the football.......

my prediction with JC at QB:
3 and out
3 and out
3 and out
long bomb caught
punt
3 and out
3 and out
3 and out
long bomb and questionable interference
missed field goal
3 and out
3 and out ...

Post game. It wasn't JC's fault as much as the OL, Receivers, RBs, and the lady selling lemonade outside FedEx.

Can we stop having all these detailed reports about colt brennan. No one cares.

The rest of the team is on the practice field. Colt's all he's got to talk to, his source. Colt Brennan, Captain of the IR Team.

looks like you have ALREADY lost!! feel free be disappointed! Unless you are Ginas' fan of course. In which case you will REALLY be disappointed when the Redskins light up the house!

Nemo resurfaces with Giants By David Elfin
on Sept. 7, 2009 into Redskins 360

A day after the Redskins signed quarterback Andre Woodson to their practice squad off waivers from the Giants, New York did a semi-tit-for-tat by signing fullback Nehemiah Broughton to its practice squad off waivers from Minnesota.

Broughton played sparingly in just six games for the Redskins, but he was a near-fixture at Redskins Park. Last summer was the fourth and final one in Washington for the fullback whom the team chose in the seventh round of the 2005 draft.

So as Woodson helps Redskins defensive coordinator Greg Blache prepare for the Giants and Kevin Gilbride's offense on Sunday, Broughton can fill in new Giants defensive boss Bill Sheridan about Jim Zorn's scheme.

Everyone on the roster practices By David Elfin
on Sept. 7, 2009 into Redskins 360

For the first time in ages, there are no players watching from the sideline as the Redskins practiced. That's the condition a coach wants his team to be in heading into the season opener.

Defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth (stomach), cornerback Carlos Rogers (CALF), linebacker London Fletcher (foot) and safety Kareem Moore (hamstring) all returned today and should be ready for the Giants. Running back Clinton Portis (ribs) and guard Randy Thomas (calf), who practiced last week but didn't play in the Sept. 3 preseason finale at Jacksonville, were also on the field and will start.

Practice began with the introduction of this year's captains. Mike Sellers replaces departed Khary Campbell on special teams. Rock Cartwright (special teams), Jason Campbell and Chris Samuels (offense) and Cornelius Griffin and London Fletcher (defense) return.

Turn your head and Coughlin.

Posted by: freakzilla | September 7, 2009 2:23 PM | Report abuse

Here's hoping for a steady stream of exasperated looks from Tom Coughlin on Sunday afternoon.

I know, I know -- how can you tell he's exasperated? He always looks like that.

Posted by: freakzilla | September 7, 2009 2:37 PM | Report abuse

Seems to me Woodson isn't likely to be useful in overall offensive game planning ("coach, they like to run Jacobs left, and they like to run Jacobs through the middle, and they like to run Jacobs right too"); it might be something to have him talk about the rookie receivers ("xx can't catch anything low [believe me, I tried!], yy runs real crisp routes, zz will pop the ball up on you more often than not").
Or maybe he's just the second coming.

Which, since the game is in NY, really is a double whammy for her.

Macho Harris appears to have subplanted quentin demps as the starter at safety. We could have gotten him with our 5th rounder and drafted OL with our 3rd rounder.damnit!

We could have but -- why? We're already rich in safeties. Are you saying he's better than the ones we've already got?

coughlin has one more ring than Zorn, so he earned the right to talk smack...

However, I hope we see his face as red as a furnace at the 2 minute warning in the 4th Qtr on Sunday.. It could only mean good things for the visiting team.

Why don't you take this to ExtremeSkins? This is their bread and butter. Here at RI, we hate the Redskins, as you keep pointing out. You're so loopy that you're not even able to convince yourself.

Dear Mr. Talent,

When did I ever say that you guys hate the Redskins? You seem to have either confused me with someone else or misunderstood something I said.

You've been coming at me pretty hard lately, talent evaluator. I don't recall you being this way in previous years..but maybe I'm wrong. Want to debate specific points that I've argued or do you want to continue to take lame shots at me instead?

p.s. By the way I can get pizza and breadsticks to you in under half an hour. Guaranteed.

Holy sh!tballs, it's Captain Nemo Broughton, the man at the deepest depths of the Redskins' roster ever since he was drafted? Yeah, I'm sure he'll be invaluable, Coughlin...
