LET's make Romo next week's scratch....

The Cowpies FIRST lost players in the upcoming game.

Posted by: Alan4 | November 16, 2008 7:14 PM | Report abuse

Shouldn't SD have let Pitt score the TD there, in order to get the ball back?

Posted by: daggar | November 16, 2008 7:14 PM | Report abuse

Oh, thanks Phil... but you're too late!

Posted by: daggar | November 16, 2008 7:15 PM | Report abuse

"Holding, #49"... betcha Pitt fans are loving that phrase... three times today, at least?!

Posted by: daggar | November 16, 2008 7:16 PM | Report abuse

It must've been one heck of a calf strain! Is this the 6th game Springs has been out??? Let today be DHall's day!!!

Posted by: michael_b_clegg | November 16, 2008 7:17 PM | Report abuse

I'm surprised they didn't let him score in order to get the ball back with at least 50 sec's left... Now it's 8

SD Charges have got to be the unluckiest team in the NFL. If the NYG are the luckiest then SD Charges have to have the worst luck.

Posted by: jiacinto | November 16, 2008 7:24 PM | Report abuse

Chargers unlucky?
The Chargers are "Norv Turner-ey".
That's a completely different thing.

Posted by: daggar | November 16, 2008 7:26 PM | Report abuse

Two words for you. Nov Turner. That's says it all.

How ugly was that Iggle game today?? I'd rather Graham have made that FG, but I'll take the tie. The bengals have to be the 2nd worst coached team in this league...

Posted by: michael_b_clegg | November 16, 2008 7:28 PM | Report abuse

This is so priceless I had to share. A comment submitted on the Eagles blog:

"Big Red has to go....when are you and your fellow writers going to say what needs to be said? This game is a microcosm of Reid's inability to make in-game adjustments. Also how can you not feed Westbrook the ball? If The difference between Max-Jean Stiff rock and Andrews that big? How do we not run the ball on any 3rd and 1's but last week 3rd and 3 and 4th and 1 for our life against the Giants front 7 we are running. Reid has lost his nerve. Everything he touches turns to poop. I am out with Reid. It is time for a change. I saw the Bengals fans took out an ad on a billboard by there stadium. Who is with me? My email is my name @ gmail.com. Let's get it started......Reid must GOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!And take LJ and Jim Johnson with you...."

Posted by: Moose33 | November 16, 2008 7:29 PM | Report abuse

And for T_E, who asked if Norv should fear for his job, lemme just say I'm torn. On the one hand, eliminating SD as a threat is a good thing. On the other hand, the fact that ol' mumble mouth is being paid to coach in the NFL is galling.

THE IGGLES AND THE BUNGLES TIE TAKES ME BACK TO a Skins game in 1997............

Listening to 980, is anyone annoyed with what John Riggins says? He is so negative about everything the Redskins do. Always talking about how Portis should have even better numbers and that if there was another running back in his place, then
the production would be the same or even better...always complaining about Portis going down after first contact...he's always saying negative things!

Posted by: rachel216 | November 16, 2008 7:38 PM | Report abuse

RIGGO's DRUNK.....

Posted by: michael_b_clegg | November 16, 2008 7:40 PM | Report abuse

Is a tie as bad as loss for PHL and the Iggles?

Posted by: jiacinto | November 16, 2008 7:44 PM | Report abuse

yes. a tie puts them another 1/2 or 1/3 or something, game back behind everyone

Posted by: alex35332 | November 16, 2008 7:46 PM | Report abuse

"listening to 980... annoyed by negativity..."

I can't imagine that.

RIGGO's DRUNK.....

Posted by: michael_b_clegg | November 16, 2008 7:40 PM | Report abuse

Hilarious!!

My buddy used to work at a restaurant in Tysons (Clydes), and Riggo would come in after playing and get hammered and start throwing bread. When people complained, he would order champagne for the house!

Pound for pound, Portis is the toughest back in the league, so that comment by Riggo is complete BS.

I'm so fired up for this game I'm sending the wife and kids out!!

Posted by: cosomfla | November 16, 2008 7:48 PM | Report abuse

RIGGO's DRUNK.....

Posted by: michael_b_clegg | November 16, 2008 7:40 PM | Report abuse
That is quite a statement. Are you basing that on any knowledge, or is it supposition?

Posted by: frediefritz | November 16, 2008 7:48 PM | Report abuse

And T_E I'm not talking about only his current injury. I'm talking also about past seasons...he's almost ALWAYS on the injury report on some way or another.

Posted by: svxcountry1 | November 16, 2008 6:37 PM

It does seem that way, doesn't it? But here's the numbers from NFL.com. In his five seasons with the 'Skins Springs has been in 15, 15, 9, 16, and 4 games (this year). That's 80% of the games. Carlos Rogers has been in 12, 15, 7, and 9 games in four years. That's 70%.

Among the dozens of people boasting pre-game field passes was Wizards all-star forward Caron Butler. Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo famously edged Butler for Racine County basketball player of the year honors when both were in high school.

I predict that by the end of the year Hall will have more picks as a Redskin than Rogers' entire career.

I don't know whether Cooley can really break tackles, or whether Dallas is just tackling VERY poorly.

All the talk this week was how the key Redskins guys were injured and it was just assumed that Romo was good to go. The C*wb*ys are desperate and they've put him in there. He's hurting every throw and the pick was a terrible effort. Owens was clear and the ball was nowhere near him. Will poor Tony make it through the whole game? I ain't sure!

49 yard punt... nice!

Rogers' "entire career" has to include this season (while its happening). I sense Hall may inspire Rogers to hang on more mediumly.

Come on ARE. You got to hold onto that one.

OK, I didn't see the punt. I only have network.

Posted by: dcsween | November 16, 2008 8:58 PM | Report abuse

Seemed like ARE had a trap. Maybe it was low?

Nice... Dallas finally breaks a play, and it's called back by a penalty.... seems we've got some luck going our way tonight, too.

Folks seem to be confused the announcer who often sounds drunk is not, Sonny J.
That is Sam Huff

He gets silly, contradicts himself and sounds as if he might be getting drunk.

By the way for those interested, John Riggins last week on the pre-game radio show, was actually quite pumped and optimistic.
He said the Skins were going to beat Pittsburgh. Actually, I recall thinking to myself that Riggo was so giddy, I thought he was really drinking then!

For whatever it is worth...

When did Tim Donaghy get a job as an NFL back judge? That decision stinks, as does the rejection of the appeal.

Jerry Jones flashed his wallet at that one.
